The defense though... we literally iced two legit NHLers out of 6.Haha that was the from the "lose for Hughes" campaign. A successful one. Nick Lappin and Kenny Agostino in our top 6!

Havent seen MTL yet this season, but not concerned at this moment.
On the Junbotron they said it was a 'sell out' (16.5k attendence today).
That isnt the full arena but they sold it all... I guess a technical sell out.
Arena was almost full though. Club looked a little spotty. My section and nearby section were just about full
Same, Mermis was actually pretty damn solid in his 10 games.I actually liked Mermis when he was here in 2020 too
I def thought Blandisi could stick around, I've fallen into that trap before with guys like him, Tedenby, etc.I agreed with you. Thought he was better than Quenneville.
Apparently Blandisi plays for the Marlies, but Qunneville is now in his second year playing overseas. He was in the Swiss league last year and now he’s in Sweden this year. He’s pretty good in those leagues.
Secondary market was bananas for yesterdays game. I get that they're winning and that's fantastic, but the 200 section are almost always below face and right up until like 5 hours before hand they were over face value. The Colorado game I spent $65 total on two tickets in the 100 section, yesterday the cheapest ticket was nosebleed 200 level and was $48 before fees.I'd say it was 90% full, still too many chunks of empty seats, especially in the 200 corners.
That's still an amazing crowd but if they would just price the whole place a bit better they would have a lot more legit sellouts instead of pretending like last night was one.
With the way the goal tending is in the league right now, if he continued to put up solid AHL #'s, he'd get a chance.Just glad Schmid could get himself a legitimate win. You never know with a guy like that and a season like that, there's a world where Schmid doesn't get to play in the NHL again, and he really had it rough last year.
Who would you rather have right now?I think we all liked him. He was pretty good, though it was a small sample of games he played. The covid pause cut his audition here short.
I think the consensus was to re-aign him, but we never did.
He was one of the only scrubs that worked out, other than the aforementioned Agostino. Both were 26 years old when they were here, so that probably played heavy in why they weren’t brought back. Because they weren’t some young prospects, but veteran guys that had been pro for years and couldn’t stick in the NHL before that.
I thought he could be a decent #7 defenseman in the NHL. He was much better than Colton White and everyone we’ve iced as our #7 for the last pretty long time.

I think people also realized he was just not ready last year, he was forced into a bad spot in his first pro season at 21 years old. Wasn't he also in vs Washington and they lit him up on the PP?
IMO the bright spot of last night is, we might be seeing the successor to Blackwood. And that might come earlier then next season.
If Blackwood get's healthy and plays OK, he could be trade bait (and yes I saw your post saying he has no trade value).

As we were going into a season in which we were relying on Blackwood, was it not a good bet that our AHL guys would get a chance at some point this season? Heck any goalie in the league right now seems to have one leg pad in the IR at all times. He was not guaranteed to do that at all, though. Plenty of guys get one weird chance at the NHL and then that's it.
Blackwood has no trade value. He is only bait to tanking teams and teams that need a body, and the thing about him being a body is, he can't even stay healthy.
Any win is good...They played a little sloppy here and there but overcame it....Haula's start was real bad liked moving him down and putting Rango up seemed to give team a spark imo
If you leave Rango with Hughes then Haula can center the third line and Mercer go to the wing. That might get things moving there too. That Mercer line has been a bit invisible in recent games. Anyway moving those guys around gives us options.Any win is good...They played a little sloppy here and there but overcame it....Haula's start was real bad liked moving him down and putting Rango up seemed to give team a spark imo
Sharangovich has turned into a great penalty killer... but the line jumbling has absolutely hurt him at even strength. If you leave Rango with Hughes then Haula can center the third line and Mercer go to the wing. not me. i am satisfied to do it daily once and calculate the points gap to the last wild card spot in the east.anyone else look at the standings like 8 times a day?
Gilles Senn 3 years ago.He was not guaranteed to do that at all, though. Plenty of guys get one weird chance at the NHL and then that's it.
That stupid helmet bottled up his talent last season and had him play like Volchenkov without the physicality.not just the goal.
but i'll say it again....hamilton is doing it lately. glad the last year bad luck is over
I think Blackwood would be claimed if he were on waivers, but trade? Not sure about that.As we were going into a season in which we were relying on Blackwood, was it not a good bet that our AHL guys would get a chance at some point this season? Heck any goalie in the league right now seems to have one leg pad in the IR at all times.
And do note I said Blackwood could be trade bait if he can get healthy and play OK. There are teams out there who need a body. Lets not forget, we, a bottom feeder, traded for the Hamburgler last year. An injured Hamburgler no less. Don't underestimate how dire the goalie situation is in the league right now.
agreed. must win game. 83 of them to go.They had a bad start, but they've been great lately. Been very competitive and won against some good teams, they are on a 3 game win streak right now. They lack some depth and defence, but that 1st line is one of the best lines in the league atm.

The Devils need to shut down that line or it's gonna be a rough night.
Yeah, Senn was older, and wasn't as good as Schmid. He followed up his NHL debut season, with a sub .900 save% in Utica(edit: Bing) the next year, at the age of 24.Gilles Senn 3 years ago.
Came in one night in relief and played a half a period, then got the start the next night and that was it for him.
He was a couple years older than Schmid is now at that time and left for Europe after that year. I suspect no matter what happens to Schmid that he'll be here in North America through at least the end of next season.
Ah, so he actually did play one more year in North America after that. I actually didn't remember him being in the organization still in 20-21, so I stand corrected on that.Yeah, Senn was older, and wasn't as good as Schmid. He followed up his NHL debut season, with a sub .900 save% in Utica the next year, at the age of 24.
Schmid (in a small sample) is at .918 at 22.
