Imagine Chychrun wants no part of this...

I go to Ottawa and ask for Pinto, Sanderson and a 2022 1st. What other teams could pay enough to help the Coyotes long term?

Dvo will have lots of suitors and he can fit in Cap Wise.

Keller is in tough because his salary.

Schmaltz is also a tough trade in a flat cap world.

And what exactly are they going to do when the coyotes have 7 wins in the first half of next season? Ok guys, lets pretend we might win a few more games?

This tank effects players careers and future earning power. If I were Chych/DVO/Keller/Schmaltz, I would be asking for a trade. 2 bad years for any of them will effect their future earning potential. The only players that will want to stay in AZ are fringe NHL players or those young guys trying to make the team. This will be an opportunity to play in the NHL and prove themselves, they wouldn't get the opportunity otherwise.

On a bad team, they have plenty of opportunity to increase their earning potential as they will have plenty of ice time.

No. Even with the knee history, I’m not trading chych

Chych/Keller/DVO/Schmaltz will get plenty of ice time on any time. The difference in Az if the crappy players they play with will hurt there stats. I would want out if I were any of them, NHL playing careers are too short, this hurts their earning potential.

I doubt we r interested but for giggles. Would You trade Keller, Avs 1st, Mancelli, and a 2nd for Eichel?
Obviously I'd have to do that. But my main concern with Eichel isn't the acquisition cost, nor the salary, and not even the neck issue. My main thing is whether he'd just be disgusted to end up here. I would have to be sure that he's sold on being in Phoenix. If he just thinks it's Buffalo-South (and who could blame him?), I'd rather not add a ticking time-bomb.

Keller and Schmaltz have no leverage at the moment because of their contract. Chych and DVO have lots of leverage, and so does GMBA with trades. IF this rebuild kind of goes sideways, things will get very interesting.

The thing that makes me curious about Eichel is, what other teams around the league:

1. Have the assets to aquire him
2. Can afford to gut their core to land him

I legitimately dont follow many other teams so this is a legit question. Seems like that has us written all over it though.

Do i want to do it? Probably not, but would it be exciting? Hell yes

I suspect Buffalo would want Dvorak and Hayton more than Keller or Maccelli, by the way. And unlike some teams in the Eichel sweepstakes, were are absolutely in no position to be trading a 2021 1st. Maybe a lottery protected 2022 1st. But why would Buffalo accept that?

Trading a bunch of assets for Eichel when we have NOTHING to surround him with is Chayka-brain. No thanks.

Yes. Let him recover from surgery for a year and jumpstart the 22 team in a big way. Imagine a primo rookie center and Eichel down the middle.

Trading for Eichel is like slamming on the brakes at 100 mph and going into reverse. We lack talented forwards (to put it mildly), our defense is now pretty gutted and our goaltending is non-existent. Even if he was out for a year we couldn't shore up all those pieces in 1 year. It would also mortgage our future like trading for Hall did.

At this point, I’d be happy even with freaking Riley Sheahan and Jordie Benn. We have to get more at least decently boring low event veteran players. The line up is an absolute mess. At least give me a large stay at home D and a sturdy checking C.

RT you nailed the OEL/Garland trade, I might have missed it but what do you think would the return be for Keller, Schmaltz, and Dvorak if shipped out on individual deals?

wasn’t gonna be a fan but Utalked me into it
Schmaltz may never be the player he was in Chicago but I see no resemblance to Stepan at all. Will not be gutted if we lose him, but Schmaltz is worth a lot more as a player. He’s got a great shot and good speed, and has the necessary creativity to be a solid 2nd liner in the league
