The rush started when they burned 1 year of his elc for 5 games.
It seems they consider him to be more advanced than he really is. He really is barely 18 months from having been playing high school hockey.

Couldn't agree more with your point. He is an unsung hero in this story.Smith has been such a gain for the staff that he's gotten more out of guys like Beaulieu and similarly Nelson. McCabe too.
Sheary doesn't even have chemistry with himself.Good:
Eichels best game of the season. Dominated almost every shift.
Bad:
Overtime. No Skinner? Also why Sheary with Eichel everytime? They have displayed no chemistry in any of the OTs
Props to whomever made the decisiion the coaching staff needed upgrading. I’m assuming that would be some combo of Phil and Botts.Smith has been such a gain for the staff that he's gotten more out of guys like Beaulieu and similarly Nelson. McCabe too.
The adjustment of putting Dahlin on PP1 with Jack and Risto in the umbrella has been awesome. I believe its called the @Der Jaeger adjustment in coaching circles.Special teams were on fire, which is a fantastic change of pace. If they keep that up, the wins are sure to come regardless of the bad puck-luck.
