So when Korpi (who made the all star team right before he was injured) comes back does he return as the starter?

Nope. Ride the hot hand. Korpi will get a share of starts though, you can't just throw him out, but its Elvis' net.

Still think they’ll miss the playoffs. They’re a so so team riding insane goaltending. The one thing that could get them in is if both Florida and Philly return to their miserable defense and goaltending they had the first 3 months of the season
It's not all goaltending. The 6 defensemen and 12 forwards on the ice are a HUGE portion of this too. The goaltending and team defense combination is carrying them despite have the worst power play in the league during this same stretch.

Even with a good blue line, you still need a goalie. Merzlikins has been elite. Who saw that coming?

He's been elite lately but at the same time he recorded 8 straight losses to start the season, now 12 wins out of the last 14. Sometimes that happens. Went through the low of lows early, going through the high of highs now.

It's a beautiful thing when a first year goalie is playing like he has no respect for the league because he doesn't know any better, and what magnifies it is the playoff push the Jackets are making and the team finding their identity.

It's no different than Binnington and the Blues last year, really.

Makes you think how much Binnington would've struggled last year if he was with the Blues early on when they were all over the place defensively just like the Jackets.

They’re a team I like to root for and they’re playing a good team game.
Not quite the apocalyptic scenario some projected for them following the mass exodus of talent in the offseason. Bobrovsky looks like ass this season, Duchene’s not a serious difference maker and Dzingle is just not all that good, in fact he’s kind of bad. The big departure imo was Panarin.

*But still tried to.

Just wanted to put it in perspective that Jarmo did in fact try to re-sign Bob at least two separate times.

It was probably for the better that he didn't succeed. Can't really blame your GM for trying to sign top-3 goalie (possible the best) in the league though. This is one of those times a failure has a silver lining. Elvis and Korpisalo seem like a competent duo and the team is playing marvelous defense.

Yep. Just wanted it out there for the sake of transparency. I have very few complaints with Jarmo and his good moves way overshadow the bad ones.

As a Finn I'm very glad he's doing good job so far. He seems to be a ballsy GM who takes risks. It's fun to watch when those risks pan out (which has been the case for his short GM career so far) but it's also painful to follow when things don't work out.

It's kind of funny how we all thought they were toast with the loss of Bob and the Breadman. Merzlikins looks like the real deal and Bob has for the most part shit the bed in Florida.

The Jackets, now in 100% crystal clear Jarmo-vision.

In 4 of those losses he had a save percentage of 92.7 percent or better and allowed no more than 2 goals. He wasnt really even playing that poorly during his roughest stretch

This streak is ridiculous. If Toronto or LA or Washington were on a run like this, it would be all anyone would ever talk about. The fact that we're still actually flying under the radar somewhat is incredible to me.

If this team could figure out the power play, they'd be unbeatable.

By my count, the CBJ are 19-2-5 in their last 26, and 13-2-1 since Tortorella’s post-game outburst in December.

in Torts we trust.
