Not movie related, but I thought you (and
@Tom Hanks and
@DegenX) would appreciate this as dog lovers . . .
Just got back from a stay at Vdara in Vegas. Took the pups. They have a tiny dog park on their property. Took my Frenchie out for her morning pee on Tuesday, and when we walked in, there was a Asian American couple with a Shepherd mix . . . probably about 60 pounds. Turns out, they'd just found the dog the day before wandering near Route 93 on their ride from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas (93 runs from Kingman, AZ towards Hoover Dam). They picked her up, brought her to Vegas, and took her to an emergency clinic. They wanded the dog for a microchip and nothing. The vet estimated that she was 5-6 years old. So, they told me they were going to adopt her and take her to live with them in San Francisco.
About 90 minutes later, I was waiting at valet for my car and saw them with the dog talking to another couple. Went over to say HI, and the wife says to me the other couple are the dogs owners. Turns out, they were rock climbing in Austin and had left their 13 year old girl with mom on her ranch in Kingman. The girl wandered off on Sunday. Here's how they found the dog: She was microchipped. The owners called the monitoring company and were informed that they never registered the dog to the microchip number, which is why the vet got not reading. BUT, the company did get an alert that the vet read an unregistered chip of theirs. So, put 2 and 2 together and directed the owners to the vet in Vegas, who directed them to the couple who found their girl.
Literally the type of thing you'd see in a movie, except I know this one happened in real life.
