What the f***? Brutal. So, who was on the 2010 Stanley Cup winning team that was out of hockey shortly afterwards? It had to be someone playing in the playoffs, as well. Since this happened in May 2010. I mean, it's going to come out eventually.

If a lawsuit was filed the plaintiff should be a matter of public record.

Yikes.

You tend to think that this sort of thing doesn't happen to people at the professional / elite level, and then...

Don't teams usually call up a bunch of AHLers for the playoffs and have them around? Could be someone who barely played for the Hawks.

Brent Sopel played half a season after and then retired I’m pretty sure.

3 guys left hockey fairly shortly thereafter.

Who’s the coach, wouldn’t it have to be Haviland or Torchetti?

The lawsuit alleges that in May 2010, the coach “turned on porn and began to masturbate in front of” the Blackhawks player without the player’s consent. The lawsuit identified that coach as Brad Aldrich, who was a video coach for the Blackhawks at the time and is no longer with the organization.

As vile as that is how does that constitute sexual assault?

I dont see any other situation outside of this and the text messages cited by attorney and if that is case neither one is what would be considered "Sexual Assault"

Jeez, read the article. It was supposedly a video coach who was later convicted elsewhere of sexual misconduct.

The part that does it for me is "John Doe" claimed he told the Hawks mental skills coach, said coach when asked about it by reporters says "I don’t have much knowledge of this at all. Plus, I’m retiring. I’m out of the picture."

WTF does retiring have to do with anything.

Also, John Doe claims he went to the NHLPA and got no help there.

This has the potential to really blow up. If you wanted them to clean house, well, the house might get cleaned.

Matt Meachum has been at the role since 13-14

Did this guy stay until 2013, that's an even worse situation if he was doing that.

Look at what happened with the Olympics women's gymnastics team. Happens everywhere.
Maybe I should have specified adult professional levels. Most of those girls were very young at the time. Then again I suppose some pro hockey players are also relatively young.

I also don't tend to think of gymnastics as a pro sport, but that's probably cultural.

From further down the article.

...threats to “physically, financially and emotionally” harm the player if he “did not engage in sexual activity” with the coach.

Yeah he is suing Hawks and claiming team ignored it

He also claims NHLPA ignored it

I dont see any evidence presented that Hawks organization ignored it or NHLPA also the Hawks will likely look to have dismissed judging by statement of it "Lacking merit"

“The Chicago Blackhawks take the allegations asserted by a former player very seriously,” said Adam Rogowin, the Blackhawks vice president for communications. “Based on our investigation, we believe the allegations against the organization lack merit and we are confident the team will be absolved of any wrongdoing.

“As this is a pending litigation matter, it would be inappropriate for us to comment further,” he said.

He will need actual evidence showing Hawks organization knowingly hiding it for this to go anywhere
