Agree with this 100%. I actually think he's very similar to Heinen, which is why I don't think they should play together when the lineup is fully healthy. Both need to play with someone who is a willing shooter and will drive to the net.

If you play them together, you'll have a solid defensive line that has quite a bit of possession in the offensive zone (and the CF% would be incredible), but you're also probably not going to get much offensive production.
Ideally they have two guys that create space, and are heavy on the puck and the third guy is a shooter, ala DeBrusk.

However, and I mentioned it before, but I genuinely think a line of Heinen - Coyle - Backes would be effective. Possession monster, with the ability to pop a few, albeit inconsistently. That's a line that as the game goes on, and as the playoffs as a whole go on, can wear out a team due to cycle and the fact that Coyle and Backes aren't afraid to hit.

Agreed. But even healthy, who are those guys?
This season?

It's two of Backes, Heinen, or MoJo, with the first two being my choice. Like I said, they won't get a ton of goals, but thats a line that will wear down teams over the course of a game, or series.

Next year? I'm not entirely sure, but they need someone who is a pure shooter on the wing.

Call me crazy but I don’t think I like coyle as much on the wing. I feel like he is better at playing centre. Just an eye test. He did score one. But I just really like his two way game at C

I agree but I’m cool with it until Pasta and/or Mojo get back.

He’s gonna be a productive center if surrounded by shooters

I just want to clarify, do you mean that CC would make better players better, or that CC would be carried along by better players? I don't want a center that can't enable his wings. This trade has been looking worse by the day. Donato keeps scoring while CC can't hit wide-open nets.

He's a little snake bitten now but with his size he is winning a ton of puck battles now which will yield benefits in the playoffs.

Good game on both ends of the tonight. Showed some nice creativity with Krejci but didn't seem to click with DeBrusk that much, which is understandable.

He needs to get going in his hometown.. He's been absolute shit all year and the B's didn't give up the assets they did for him to be a defensive minded C/W. If they were looking for that they would have went a different direction.

Did you even watch the last few games?

He's been directly involved in two goals, and has been driving the play, cycling, and being generally strong on the puck. Yeah he totally missed what should've been an easy goal tonight, but he's been fine.

Do I wish he had some more points and goals? Of course I do, but he hasn't been "absolute shit".

But it's obvious you have a dislike for said player, so you're unable to view it without the bias.

I like Charlie. He’s a black hole in the offensive zone 90% of the time and there were obviously better options if they wanted a defensive minded 3 C. Just being honest.

It's just like selecting a pair of shoes. If your going out on the town you grab your Gucci loafers. If your working on a construction sight your grabbing your workboots. You need em both and we know where we're going to be in a couple of weeks and we'll see how they fit in the fullness of time.

Played his best game as a Bruin last night. We won 2-1 in OT, he went 0-0-0 on the score sheet with 2 sog. One of those strange things where what he did showed up on the opposite end of the scoresheet. He was a big part of the reason we were able to hang around in a 1-1 checking fest. His board work last night in the offensive zone was a clinic. He did exactly what we brought him here to do, generate possession. If we can get that kind of possession out of our third line when/if healthy, that will tilt the ice in a 7 game series big time. Exactly what we needed in the lineup.

In this trade
One player "look" good
And one player "is" good
Let's hope the return of injuried players will make the look good one ....a is good one....
I am positive may be one day bruins will make a trade and get the best player of the trade.

Again, if teammates hit quite literal wide open nets nobody is talking about the trade other than to say how good it was

His line has been dominating the puck and they don’t need to be sheltered. That’s all that matters to me. Time will give them points, its an inevitability when you own the puck like they have. Some skill on his wings would DEFINITELY give them points
Bingo.

In this trade, the Bruins got a third line center in exchange for a guy who was in Providence. I like Donato a lot but he was unlikely to help this year in Boston.

If you look at trades in a vacuum, it’s basically stat watching.

The “I like Charlie” quip in attempt to validate the rest of this post is quite ineffective. I don’t think you “like him”.

That being said, I get the frustration. I personally still think that he is going to be vital when everyone is back healthy in the 3C position. Maybe not the same impact I feel MoJo will have on the offense, but that “stabilizing” of the third line is a real thing to me. If we can have a second line which produces, and a third line that can at least keep the opposing team on their heels, we are in real good shape.
