Where did Zherdev go? He was great in Channel One Cup 2012 but injured for the world championship 2013? Where is he now? Injured or not good enough?

He actually did become the World Champion in 2012, playing on the 3rd line.
Then he had motivation problems and reported alcohol incidents. Now not nearly a candidate.

Zherdev very bad now.
He's playing for Lev in pre-season and left this team (alcohol incident), then he's playing in Spartak - 0 goals (7 points) in 16 games and left this team. Now he's playing in Severstal, 2+1 in 8 games.
He's speed not good now and he's defensive skills very very very poor.

Finland's practice lines from today:

Teemu Hartikainen - Jarno Koskiranta - Pekka Jormakka

Janne Pesonen - Juha-Pekka Hytönen - Juuso Puustinen

Toni Rajala - Joonas Kemppainen - Joonas Donskoi

Tommi Huhtala - Tomi Sallinen - Jere Sallinen

Extras: Olli Palola, Ville Koho

Defense (not final, missing Jaakola and Mäenpää, they will join the team in Prague):

Petteri Nummelin-Atte Ohtamaa

Jere Karalahti-Anssi Salmela

Janne Jalasvaara

I think I see a theme in that 2nd pairing.

Leading scorers are not always the best option. Is that so hard to understand?
Best option for what? It's a frigging tryout tournament. Finns are going to skate / already skated 48 players, for Russia the number is... 35? Is there a big talent pool issue or what? Why haven't Malykhin and Lazarev played a single EHT leg so far? How on Earth were Glukhov and Kablukov even considered for the expanded KPK roster?

Mozyakin and Zaripov are having their best season in the last years, Zaripov in particular had no chance to play in the international tournaments since 2011. There's no way either of them deserves a shot less than Popov and Perezhogin who seem to be proven players for Bilyaletdinov anyway.

that last goal. you can't just let him slide right into a scoring position

was that Johansson. he played like a winger, and was waiting for the breakout pass
