Jr. Sens have traded defencman G. Lawson to the AJHL Brooks Bandits. Apparently this was the compensation when Ottawa acquired D. Daniels. Lawson is committed NCAA Div I for 2017/18.

From what I am hearing on the street, it sounds like many teams will look a lot different from this past season. A few players asking to be traded, a few 17 yr olds quitting hockey and the obvious graduating players will change roster. I can see one or two teams having less then ten returning players on roster at showcase. Is this normal for CCHL? I think 4 years of hockey costing close to $25K is making players think twice now if they know they will never get a free ride in NCAA.

Samuel Meisenheimer’s rights were sent to the MHL’s Summerside. Last season he played with the QJHL’s Moncton Wildcats & his rights are now with Charlottetown.

The Jr. Sens acquire Pierre-Luc Veillette & Gabriel Morin from Lhjaaaq’s Sorel-Tracy Rebels. The Jr. Sens have also signed Forward Daniel Menges from the Gilmour Academy Lancers; defenceman John Kuhl from the New Jersey Rocket; defenceman Joe Alexander from Lake Forest Academy & forward Lucas Roy from OHA Mavericks. Additionally, defenceman Thomas Stevenson has signed with the OHL Windsor Spitfires.

My understanding is that Marc Franche (ex Grads) is the one that is putting this together, mostly for kids attending LBP High School. I think wifey is a teacher there also, so I'm not sure if this is really a CCHL money grab thing.

This basically sounds like what Brockville, Cornwall and CP set up last season. Not sure how successful they were.

I heard they are setting up these programs with schools so it is easier to bring imports into the region. I know there were many families interested in playing u18AAA from Quebec, Southern Ontario, USA and other regions so why not setup a program that would entice more players into area.

I have no opinion on this because we are past this stage. If programs are built and people interested then I guess it is successful just don't make it mandatory to join.

HEO is hosting Telus Cup Regionals this year so wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to stack one HEO team so they can be competitive. All minor aged players traded will be good CCHL players if they stick around.

OJS got even stronger picking up Owen Guy from Kemptville this week and who knows what imports are coming because Fred Page Cup host should bring in some good talent. So far this looks like the team to beat but I imagine CP will be in top 2 again.

Guy is supposed to be starting at Lake Superior State in Sept 2017. Did he un-commit or just delaying a year ?
