And I'm sure there will be more positives in the coming days, since these are all pre-Christmas!

On the plus side, Kuznetsov and Backstrom have returned and could have some very temporary immunity over Lord Omicron. Like the invincibility frames after respawning in an old Nintendo game.

They now have a 3 week window to find spots for games. It'll get done.

Three weeks includes the All-Star break, so either that game is in jeopardy or the actual window is shorter. Also, various sources have suggested the league will give all players a break of sorts to replace some of the downtime that non-olympians were expecting (e.g., Poile quote in next-to-last para of https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/olympics/2021/12/22/nhl-olympic-decision-rosters-schedule/). And with more guys going into covid protocol all the time, there's a good chance that more than the 66 (?) games that have been delayed thus far.

I have tickets to Wednesday's game, and no desire to go at all. Would be decent of the Caps to give fans an option other than go see a quasi-AHL team in a crowded indoor arena with thousands of other people while the most transmissible (albeit less severe for those of us who are boosted) Corona variant is tearing through indoor spaces, or piss away a couple of hundred dollars in wasted tickets. But I don't think that's how Ted rolls

I had to sell my tickets for a loss the last game they had :(

Also I think DC has a mask mandate and need proof of Vax to get in

To be fair, that’s the best looking lineup we have had for a while.

This is awful

It is what it is. Think the loss of Jensen hurts the most. Oh well!

We have all 4 centers back, get a look at Kempny, although I think I would switch Proto with Hath but he also has 7gs so give him more minutes. Whatever.

3rd D pairing might kill us, but when hasn't that been a problem this season?

Hope Kempny has some good games and becomes a more permanent fixture.

I can't post in the NHL thread because someone got mad at me, but Marchand does have a good point here.

Taxi squads aren't going to do anything. It'll help teams send warm bodies on the ice, but it's not going to make a competitive or fair product. It's a cynical ploy by owners to continue lining their pockets instead of doing what's right: shutting the league down until COVID is under control.

If the owners don’t make money, then we don’t have a league. This socialistic approach you are taking doesn’t fly here, as these Pro Sports leagues aren’t a requirement, they are a privilege.

would you rather see less and less teams then?

and please humour me with the pro sports leagues that are doing *really well* under socialist or communist regimes?

Today you learned professional sports is a business. Congrats!

I am sorry. You are comparing AA-Irwin to TvR-Schultz???

How is that a direct comparison? It's a general comment about our 3rd D pairings this year which has been a rotating wheel of AHL'rs. IIRC, Schultz was the D whipping boy on here until the last few games he showed some improvement.

Ok, go back to thinking the sky is falling 'this is awful'.

ps What HTFN said

If a general comment about the 3rd pairing then, I dont get what you are getting at with TvR. I get that people hate Schultz, but I thought TvR was generally liked. To my eyes, and thats not saying a lot, TvR has been really good with his play on the left and his penalty killing has been quality. Call my comment a defense of TvR.
