id take orlov 10 million times over schultzCall me crazy but what if the Schmidt trade hold up is a corresponding Orlov move? Would be something
I think Schmidt makes more money than Orlov. He’s a tad under $6 million IIRCCall me crazy but what if the Schmidt trade hold up is a corresponding Orlov move? Would be something
Pretty shitty for Schmidt though. Knows he’s traded and all these reports out there. Hopefully Vegas is in touch with his camp and being as transparent as possible
I wish but not a chance in hell.Call me crazy but what if the Schmidt trade hold up is a corresponding Orlov move? Would be something
I mean... 3 seasons later. The nerve of McPhee. Take him away from us and then dump him right after.
I mean... 3 seasons later.
I guarantee that in NHL history 3 years post expansion is definitely on the higher end of expansion pick longevity with the team that chose them.
In fact of the 30 picks made only 7 players are still on the active VGK roster and I am including both Schmidt and MAF in that count.
Granted GMGM was able to flip more prospects from trades outside of the draft itself, but the point stands. Schmidt lasted a long time, also VGK is a much different team than we saw.
He’s a legitimate 1st pairing defender and well worth his contract. His numbers would likely look a lot better too if he didn’t face such tough assignments.Took George 3 years to figure out you don’t win a Cup with Nate playing a key role?
not surprised at all that he’s priced himself out of town....now for that cap hit, you need more than he has IMO. I’d take him on the 3rd pair for sure, but not at his price tag.
Nate Schmidt is a pretty solid top 4 offensive defenseman. VGKs problem isn't Schmidt or any of the defense really, it's their forwards not finishing. Seriously, they could not bury a goal at all these past playoffs. They need scorersTook George 3 years to figure out you don’t win a Cup with Nate playing a key role?

We cannot take Schmidt’s salary without sending out a similar amount of salary. We are already a tad over the cap if we field a 20 skater roster (not including the G’s for 22). How would we possibly fit 5.9m more?Schmidt-Calrson
Dillon-Schultz
vs
Dillion-Carlson
Orlov-Schultz
The first is significantly more complimentary to all of the skillsets of the entire group. Just don't think it is possible to get done. Vegas is trying to clear cap space and I am not sure Orlov's 5.1 vs Schmidt 5.9 makes enough of a difference for them.
Now.... if Vegas likes Jensen plus a pick things could get reallllyyy interesting on the backend
Well with what I proposed Orlov would be moved. We cannot take Schmidt’s salary without sending out a similar amount of salary. We are already a tad over the cap if we field a 20 skater roster (not including the G’s for 22). How would we possibly fit 5.9m more?
would need Oshie gone. Or Wilson. Or Orlov. And those would be be enough alone.

I’ve always thought Schmidt was over rated. I like Orlov better (homer bias I’m sure), so the fact that’s Orlov is 800k cheaper is a bonus.
That said — I think it’s a fallacy that we can trade Orlov for a ransom, and yet Schmidt will be dealt for peanuts. I’d wager their returns would be the same. More or less
