6 straight for MacBlack. The bright spot of this season
And yet when he doesn't play next week and Cory looks like trash, it will be the fault of this pathetic roster we're icing (and Severson) and not our choice of washed up, charred beyond recognition goalie we're using.

And yet Blackwood has allowed 6 goals on his last 128 shots or so? Behind a team that's worse than anything any other goalie (other than maybe Domingue in St. Louis) has had to play behind on our team.

So is this the reminder that the young players just might turn out to be good despite the dark times this season?

It's games like this the young players themselves need tbh...can't have them lose 15 of 17 and just expect them to learn how to win merely by getting older.

The Caps have lost 8 of their last 10, I wonder if they’re going to make another move to shake things up.

The best part of Mac's season is we don't have to trade assets or sign a bad contract to get a new goalie. We can solely focus on the defense this summer.
Stay away from getting suckered into trading for the last year of Jake Allen too.

He's the kind of goalie that's bound to come here and be almost as bad as Cory/Louie were this year.

Almost every goalie plays worse after leaving St. Louis in the last decade or so and Allen has been mediocre for more than half his years there.

We are not far off people. Need to fix that D and get a good backup but the offense and starting goaltending is set for the foreseeable future.

Eh sort of reminds me of a lot of our first-place seasons when we'd go through the dog days in February and March. It's tough to get up for games when you're already in the playoffs and just looking to stay healthy and fine-tune. This was definitely the type of game we'd no-show in the Caps' position.

They mostly just need to bench Has-Been Holtby.

They won't bench Holtby though, especially after Samsonov just allowed 3 goals in a loss to likely the worst team he's faced in his NHL career.

So they'll have to score 4-5 goals to beat the Pens tomorrow, maybe even more.

Can I at least take a LONG victory lap for saying there's no way Blackwood and Cory should or will split starts this year, ala Brodeur/Terreri in 93-94?

I said there's no way you'll get that many games out of Cory and that Blackwood will outplay him. And Blackwood looks like he's probably gonna play 55.

Who do like that might be available? I don’t even know anyone other Lehner, I don’t know much about goalies.

Games like this, where you can see so many flashes of potential from Zacha, Severson, Hughes, Bratt, Mueller, etc., just make me hate Hynes more. This improvement is not just related to goaltending.

We're not a good team but things could've been so much further along.

It's hard to say.

Lehner will probably be extended by Chicago, as he's better and younger than Crawford.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind Corey Crawford if he didn't have concussion problems. He could wind up falling apart like Cory did (probably not as bad though) and he's turning 36 in the middle of next season.

I even think Jack Campbell could work out fine for a year.

Halak would be good, but I'm just skeptical he won't revert back to Islanders Halak and he's also about 35.

Stay away from old geriatrics like Ryan Miller and god forbid Craig Anderson.

Would you be willing to bring up Senn? Or do we just sign a vet backup anyway?

Again, at least he had to WORK for it (took until the 3rd period) with Mac in net. :dunno:

I'm just glad that his Milestone was the ONLY bright spot for the Caps today as they leave the Rock as...LOSERS!! :handclap:

I'm just not a fan of everyone jumping on the ice for that and standing ovations and pa announcements for opposing team players.....it wasn't baseball level bad of every team gifting Derek Jeter some dumb gifts before each away game but meh.

I'm a support the home team and the away team can go f*** themselves kind of fan unless it's some applause for an injured player getting off the ice.

I'd keep Melanson as the goalie coach for now, as he seems to be good for Blackwood.

It's not his fault that Schneider (who started cooking before Melanson was hired) is shot to shit and can't play anymore or that goalies like Keith Kinkaid and Louis Domingue have a short NHL shelf life.
