Round number stuff is stupid to me. Does anyone remember Brodeur's 600th win?

I'm fine with Ovy, but the bench clearing stuff is a bit much. To me that's reserved for some real record breaking moments.
I do because it was a shutout, also notably Kovys fist return to Atlanta, and it was 600.

I also remember Martys 500th in Philly.

I remember Jagrs 700.

Hell, I even remember Kovys bomb in Ottawa for 400.

Mermis was a + 1 and looked steady during his 19:11 of TOI, he has good size, has solid speed and is getting shots. He also doesn’t look out of place in his own zone and even had some good plays on the PK.

Its pretty fascinating.

That was definitely a fun game to be at. We only need to go about 21-0 to close out to season to make the playoffs, or perhaps, 20-1-0. :sarcasm:

There was a lot of player emotional energy in that game. Both sides had players getting legit agitated. probably stemming from the Carrick/Wilson stuff...

Yeah but you know that, as usual, they will play the tired "We are The Champions" by Queen instead.
Dunno, 2003 had one of the only truly good applications of a Bon Jovi song in history when they played "It's My Life" as soon as the clock hit zero in Game 7. I can't hear that song without picturing the Devils partying and the Ducks in tears.

For the record, the only other truly great use of Bon Jovi is whenever the Mexican luchadore Dr. Wagner Jr. enters an arena to "Bad Medicine".

What's the not-so-magic number for being eliminated from the playoffs?

Solid take...

.... but then you went too far :)

He needs to do a lot more to be called "elite", but he is showing he has the potential.
He is without a doubt playing like an elite goal tender right now.

But the true elite goalies are those that play at a high level for long stretch.

So we might actually be seeing Blackwood in the early stages of being an elite goal tender. .

We would have lost this game 7-3 with Cory in net no question. Maybe 5-3 if we yanked him.

Blackwood is going to be an elite goalie in this league, if he isn’t already.
Once again, I'm so tired of hearing the defense being the reason that Cory (or Kinkaid, since no one really defends Louie) got beat by this guy and that guy and that this guy is an elite shooter and that guy is a sniper and Hynes can't coach defense and ruins goalies and blah blah blah.

And yet Blackwood has allowed 6 goals on his last 128 shots, while playing behind a defense that's worse than anything Cory (or Louie or Kinkaid) has ever played behind in his entire career and the worst defense we've iced since probably 1986.

Subban and Severson are the only two defensemen that are definitely NHL caliber that have been in the last at least 4 games for us. And people still complain about Severson anyway.

Again I reiterate :

Thank God this clown isn't our Head Coach.

All we need now is to get rid of his Protege (Nas) and Henchmen this offseason and start with a brand new REAL NHL-LEVEL Head Coach (Gallant, hopefully).

Oh and I guess this thread has run its course.

Though I do hope the Poor CAPS Goaltender finds his jock again that Bratt stole....so sad. :sarcasm:

goaltending was our #1 problem last year and for the first 30 games this year etc.
now our number #1 problem is defense. thats progress.

hynes and shero may still have jobs if this team was getting anywhere close to good NHL goaltending.

the washington game felt good. the team physically stood its ground and even punched back thats what we have been missing a long time... everyone can bitch about guys like john Hayden all they want and wayne simmonds to that point.. but there is a role for these guys.. don't think for a minute that they are not appreciated in the locker room for what they bring.. seems management finally is understanding that there is a balance between having skill and toughness and you need both ..

I don’t know, hard to get rid of someone who has an above .500 record with this team, even if it’s only because of Blackwood.

While I personally don’t give much credit to Nas, I’m not sure if another coach can do any better with the defence we’re icing.
