Drafted by the Ducks 53rd overall. I watched him play at the prospects tournament, and I thought he was the best center there.

Does anyone know what league he is going to play next year? Is he going to stay in Swedish juniors?

I highly doubt he stays in juniors. On his elite prospects page he is once again listed on both the junior team and the Allsvenskan (2nd tier Swe league) for Vasteras.

I would imagine he splits his team between the 1st and 2nd tiered leagues.

My guess is that he play as a regular for his SEL-2 team next year. Västerås has 13 forwards under contract, and he is easily not ranked 13th spot on that depth chart.

William Karlsson

The Ducks drafted Karlsson in the second round in this last draft (53rd overall). I understand that he has had a pretty nice start to the year, however, I do not know much about him. I am curious to hear the opinions of people who get to regularly watch William Karlsson. What kind of game does he play? What should I expect from him as a player? What do you think about his potential? I won't get a chance to watch him this season from California so info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Nr 71 William Karlsson, scored twice last game vs. Almtuna. Goals can be seen in the video after 45.sec.

His goal vs Oskarshamn (last goal, says its Zettergren but its Karlsson as you can see by his number 71)

Karlsson is now ranked 3rd overall in the league (7th in goals/4th in assists) after 8 games, with a total of 11 points.

He's been very promising sofar, building on what he did last season, Anaheim fans will have to start taking this kid seriously. As you can see in the vid, hes got some... attitude ;)

Well, ask something and Im sure people can help.

Karlsson is on Västerås best line THE ONION LINE. (Yeah, I know ;). Comes from the surnames of the players, Little|Öberg|Karlsson = LÖK = ONION), the current best line on the whole of Allsvenskan (and I stress, currently). VIK (Västerås) has been flying at the start of the season, 7 wins and one draw ending up as a loss after penalty decider.

Karlsson has been teamed up with Broc Little, last year with NCAA team Yale, and surely it has helped Karlssons success sofar this season. But, remember he was teamed up with him for a reason. Looks very confident (as the team should, with that start of the season) on the ice atm, as you can see from the videos posted above. Wont draw any conclusions yet, would be dumb. But...

...having had both Backlund and Berglund come out of Västerås these past seasons, we will have something to compare with as the season progress.

Can't wait to see Karlsson in AHL/NHL. He is one of the players in SHL that can be truly dominant on the ice - size, IQ, skill is all top-notch. Going across will be the perfect way for him to develop even further.

Same here. So underated. I feel that in 5 years he will be the best player out of all the current Ducks forward prospects.
