Plus, an extended conversation on the Rick Dennison and Tyrod Taylor decisions, along with analysis of the game itself.

One of the Jags is alleging that Richie used racial slurs during the game. Gonna be a fun shitstorm there.

Outside of an aging McCoy, what's good about the current supporting cast for an incoming QB?
The offensive line has improved since the start of the year and has a fair bit of depth. But you are right, they need to get younger on offense. The point I was making was, we shouldnt be building a team around a QB like Tyrod when hes not a good QB.

TOP 3 THINGS WE LEARNED FROM BILLS-JAGUARS
lesean-mccoy-1-7-story.jpg

The Bills have a gamer in their feature back, the Bills 'D' won on third down and Lorenzo Alexander can still bring it.

Did the Jags win on bad offense or good defense? (1:42)
Tim Hasselbeck says the Bills-Jaguars game was bad offense but that Bortles' rushing was the difference.

WATCH: BILLS SEASON ENDS IN DEFENSIVE STRUGGLE (3:12)
Buffalo turned the ball over twice, and couldn't capitalize in the red zone, as they fell to the Jaguars 10-3.

Ignore Tyrod. The reality is that the Bills aren't in a situation to invest into the quarterback position this year. They're really poorly suited to develop a QB that costs any 2 of their next 3 firsts because of how many other holes are on the roster, and would struggle to put talent around a Cousins signing this offseason (which defeats the purpose). Plus, a really good draft this year with their volume of picks gives them a higher margin for error when they do take that swing. I know you can point to recent success stories like Wentz and Goff, but they started out with defensive pieces the Bills just don't have.

At the moment, their line is currently awful in pass protection and scheme-specifically good in the run game, which puts a ton of restrictions on what the quarterback can do - he'll either have to be really escapable (Deshaun Watson) or quickly move through his progressions (Jimmy G). Cousins is neither. But even if we draft a quarterback who can do either of those things successfully, we don't have the downfield threats for long-developing stuff, or the depth for quickly funneling to mismatches.

Our situation in terms of "things you need to develop a QB" is not very good, and we should address it before trying to do that. Especially when we won't have the defense to support more "just okay" QB play without an overhaul of multiple positions.

A legit emerging shutdown corner who looks to become an elite player in White....an extremely talented safety tandem in Hyde and Poyer. Draft capital. And Shady still has time left as an elite back. I fully believe Shady will have at least an elite/top 5 RB season in 2018, and still believe he will perform as a top 10-15 back in 2019 and 2020.

This is what needs to be done.

Fire Denison. Complete garbage OC. Another Oc on a long list of bums. Keep Tyrod one more year. Yes we need a legit franchise QB. No Tyrod is not one. But you think a rookie QB will lead us back to the playoffs? Not likely, not unless we move into the top 5. Keep Tyrod one more year and draft a QB with 21 or 22. Let him sit for a year and hope Tyrod can win another 9-10 games.

In the draft we need our QB and a DT with our first two picks. A LB and WR in round 2. Keep Matthews if cheap enough.

Receiving corps next year w/Matthews: Benjamin, Matthews, Jones, 2nd round pick, Clay, O'Leary. In 2019 unless Benjamin has a great year he will probably be priced out so in 2019 our top 3 would be Matthews,Zay and the 2nd round pick. Even with Zay we need to add another high WR. Luckily with the new found cap space I fully believe we can post another winning season.

The only thing that pisses me off is not trading with Houston instead of KC. Inexcusable. Every single person with more then a single brain cell knew KC would be a playoff team and Houston would be 8-8 at best, instead they finished with the #4 pick. Cleveland lucks out with a high pick but Houston doesn't care because they got the next superstar QB....imagine if we had traded with Houston instead....picks #4 and 21. God, there would be our franchise QB with pick 4.

Like, the Bills are projected to follow up a 9 pick draft with 2 picks in each of the first 2 rounds with top 10 cap space in the next two offseasons. There's no point to adding a quarterback when the roster will be at its least talented point over the next three seasons unless we're keeping our 2019 first.

I'd much, much rather replace Matthews with someone who can actually win off the line. Jones already needs to play out of the slot because he can't create separation against outside corners, and Benjamin has problems there too.

The Bills receiving corps needs to look like:

UFA/High Pick - Downfield X
Bejamin/Jones - Y
Jones/UFA/Pick - Slot

Before they want to develop a QB.
