How about Kopitar?

Clears their cap situation up if they move him. We'd have to play hard ball with our kids but none of our young guys coming up for resigning are Matthews/Marner/Nylander. You just have to LTIR Backes and wait until after camp to sign a RFA.

Its doable because we got such a damn steal on our 3 first liners and are paying each 60 cents on the dollar for their market value.

Flip Rask in the summer and get an affordable guy to tandem with Halak and LTIR Backes and that is Kopitars salary right there 10 mil in cap space you can give to an elite center to play on the second line. Probably don't even have to move DK he can be 3C and is only moved once Fredric/Studnicka are ready.

Kopitar would be as close to untouchable as you can get on that team. Starts with Pasta and then add another big piece from there plus another solid piece or two

Yeah hes coming off a monster year. Let him have a couple more months of suckage and see if they want to reevaluate paying him 10 mil per for another 5 years.

They would be getting a bundle of cost controlled talent on ELCs and draft picks in return and the real return is 10 mil of cap space.

Its a pipe dream right now in October but who knows what they are thinking in January if the team is still sucking it up. Backes for Brown swap to get out of the big contract on their end a year ealier could be worked into the deal as well.

I'd trade Backes for Brown right now to be honest and roll the dice on Brown being able to contribute for 3 more years since Backes might not even be worthy of a roster spot sooner rather than later.

Well, if his agent and the team denied it, then it must be false...

How many times have we seen agents, GM’s, others assorted FO personnel deny something, only to see it happen two weeks later?

honestly in my 40 yers of following hockey and my 10 hours a day of listening to sports talk... ive never heard this type of categorical denial before. the agent was extremely aggressive and extremely speficic in his statement and made sure to repeat it multiple times on every available outlet in the market

it convinced me. I went from making trade proposals for lucic on a daily basis to telling myself... wow this guy isn't going anywhere

sorry... but it is what it is.

I would try to get Jesse Puljujärvi from the Oilers. Not a center, but he could be another player that will be great once he leaves the Oilers.

RNH, Puljujärvi, Lucic (50% retained) for Krug and Backes

Now that's a Chiarelli trade.
I could get behind this.

You know for a fact even Chiarelli wouldn’t make that deal. It’s awful for Edmonton.
Nothing that guy could do would surprise me at this point. He has traded away 2 MVP caliber players now and then some. A deal like that wouldn't surprise me at all if he got fixated on needing a player like Krug.

One of my students is a college hockey player and Stars fan- yesterday he made a face when I told him I was a Bruins fan, and I pointed out that we basically gave him their best player. He didn't have an answer for that one

I like Reed,I really do but he has this thing for other teams soon to be discarded first round picks, if I get this right McDavid and Draisaitl can't get this kid squared away but Krejci and Debrusk can?
Reed also has a thing for Euros but that doesn’t mean he’s wrong. Puljujarvi is only 20, and Chiarelli has a history of dumping 20 year old offensively gifted players (Kessel, Seguin, Hall...).

He's either learned his lesson... or you can't teach old dogs new tricks.

Hope it's the latter, and the Bruins benefit for once.

I guess I'll break the trend and try an actual proposal. How about Krug and Heinen to Columbus for Josh Anderson and Mike Foligno? Feel free to start ripping on me.

(I would have said Boone Jenner over Foligno, but we'd have to take on salary to even out the Krug part)

Mike might be a bit to old but Nick would be ok:DD

Think he would do real well with Krejci and Debrusk and his potential would be through the roof. If Heinen were a righty there wouldn't be a need, but as it is there's certainly an opportunity for a big, talented right wing.
