Yeh there was plenty of blame to go around. I like the kid, but he was exposed. Pageau walked right through him in the 2nd, and he took the wrong guy on Eberle's goal in the 3rd. There were other times too. He'll learn.

Kuraly and Wagner have been exposed most of the year, last night was particularly bad yet they weren't singled out. I have no problem with Cassidy calling someone out, but with the exception of Cassidy calling out our veteran goalies on occasion, the veterans are basically immune from this.

i was not impressed with his comments concerning Vaak. it seemed odd to me that he mentioned Vaak got owned last night. pretty harsh comment considering most of the team sucked. guess it's easier to call out a rookie after a bad game then to call out some of the vets who've been bad for multiple games

So far, I'm not impressed by Vaak at all.

he also said they aren't down on him for it and he's going right back into the lineup. tough love.

Why even bring him up (vaak) ? Tough love or not. start mentioning the other 10 guys that are garbage on more nights than not what is he afraid of. Guy is all talk bet will make a great NHL host some day.

I'm not saying Vaak didnt deserve criticism. I just wish the coach would call out some vets to the media.
What good does that do?

I'm all for accountability and for coaches addressing players who aren't performing to expectation. I just don't see the point in doing it publicly through the media.

Not true. Kuraly +Wagner and Frédéric/Bjork has been a very reliable line early on. Most consistent at that time and often played against other teams top lines with good result.

They are off lately but this is an advantage matchup for Bruins.

They have how many goals between them? They need them bottom lines to chip in more.

Anyone else a little annoyed with Cassidy constant line changes

Injuries are one thing, but he keeps messing up lines like someone who can't hold still and watch a show from start to finish

So far this season these two lines have looked decent and produced

Marchand Bergeron Pasta

Ritchie Coyle Smith

Just leave these lines alone.

I would try Debrusk Krejci Studnicka

Frederic Kuraly Bjork

Cassidy needs to let these lines gel and spend time together. Not be so trigger happy to change it up.

Been saying something very similar in the Krejci thread about the lack of continuity with regards to the lines and was told I was full of shit and that it isn't happening. So yeah. But you're spot on. Leave the first line alone and figure out the others and leave them alone too. A game or two isn't enough to develop chemistry, let alone scrambling the lines mid game like has been happening.

I like your idea, but what I'd love to see is swap DK and Coyle. I honestly loathe JDB and DK together and think Jake has far more chemistry with Coyle than Krejci. But again, I think you're absolutely on to a big part of the issue right now.

Not only that but when he changes it up he doesn't leave the new lines alone long enough for them to develop any chemistry. It is constant churning- maybe he doesn't know what else to do? :dunno:

pretty much my feeling on it.

Cassidy can't make an in game adjustment to save his life. He just rolls out the lineup and hopes for the best, and shuffling lines for no reason is the mark of a coach that doesn't know how to actually fix things.

I don't think he lacks the capability to fix things. I think he's a very capable coach, in fact. What I do think is happening right now though is that there are far too many passengers just standing around and watching rather than acting. And that attitude may have proliferated past the tipping point for him to pull them out of it right now, if that makes sense. It's not that he can't do the right things to get them out of this tailspin, it's that there are too many players all spiraling at the same time to make a difference.

yup

He just does it to "change it up" and/or try to mess up opposing team game plan

but it also hurts chemistry build. Especially through tough times

The most maddening thing for me was when Coyle had a fantastic game a few nights ago. His linemates was Ritchie and Smith. All three had a good game

Then, when Krejci returns.... Cassidy has to break things up

Team goes back to inability to score goals the last 2 games.

I know this is nitpicking... but gotta do something different in the shootouts... or practice them more, or something. I'd like to see Mac and Stud be included in the top 3.

As for the constant line juggling, some of it is out of Butch's hands. Haven't had the same 12 skaters very often this year... I think we'd all like to see some consistency with the lines.

So true. Have a small shootout tournament. Three rounds, each player.

"You better do better than last year or else. Also I'm getting rid of some of your better players so my draft picks can be JAGS" - SweNeely 2021

I think Bruce has his issues. Refusal to break up Marchand and Bergeron when either is struggling is the biggest. But the Bruins #1 issue is Don Sweeney and the team he built. We have 4 players that have more than 10 points 5 on 5. Four. 87% of your defense every night is not a big threat past the red line.

Dear Jeremy and Charlie,

If you let these two dumb motherf***ers fire Bruce Cassidy to keep their jobs for a couple extra months, I'm not only not watching the Bruins but I'm not watching any of your stupid NESN shows, I'm not eating at any of your stupid airport diners, I'm not gambling at any of your stupid casinos, and I'm not sleeping at any of your stupid hotels.

If you owned air, I'd bring my own just to make sure I didn't give you guys another nickel if you let this happen.

Sincerely,

BrainofJ

What would be completely asinine would be to let Sweeney fire him, miss the playoffs, then get fired himself (along with Neely).

Now you’ve saddled the new gm with a coach he might not want.

Or you go with the temp coach strategy and get a new one over the summer. Now your players have seen 3 coaches in the span of about 6 months, each with his own philosophy which the players will need to get adjusted to all over again.

In the end, I think they should just draft Barzal and not worry about any of that.

Just kidding.

With 3.5 forwards a year as the guys up top say "hey here's David Backes, Matt Beleskey, Jimmy Hayes, Karson Kuhlman, Brett Ritchie, Brian Gionta, Lee Stempniak, Drew Stafford, Tommy Wingels...those guys should help, right?"
