Detroit vs. Everybody
Maybe we should trade him? Will his value ever be higher than this?
If we were against the cap and competitive I'd say yeah, but his contract won't hurt us now or in 4 years. Just keep him.

right, but if that’s his ask he’s not signing long term for 5 million.
Yes but considering how covid is impacting contracts and given his relatively small sample size i think Yzerman's offer is fair.Montreal being dumbasses and signing Anderson to that contract doesn’t help. I even think that Gallagher is overpaid but I might be in the minority on that
A winger that has never scored 50 points shouldn't get a six year deal. Ken Holland left a long time ago...Yzerman's $3,15M offer is a joke.
I think they settle at like 6x4.75 or some shit.

This is what i'm thinking as well.5years 4 mil per will make it

As it turns out, that's no longer even possible:After the hearing but before the verdict. That is what I said.
Not a single player in the last 12 years has agreed to settle AFTER THE VERDICT.
As it turns out, that's no longer even possible:
Tyler Bertuzzi, Detroit Red Wings more than $1 million apart in arbitration briefs
"It’s common practice for a player to aim high and a team to aim low. In 2018, then-RFA Andreas Athanasiou filed for arbitration, but the sides reached an agreement before needing an arbitrator. But in a change to the CBA this year, once an arbitration hearing has started, the two sides cannot settle."
Assuming there isn't another deal reached by Sunday afternoon, I think so.EDIT: I'll be damned...

So does that mean Bertuzzi will get the one-year deal at whatever "arbitered" AAV?

Not a joke. This is how arbitration situations go 100% of the time. Team goes in way low and players go in way high and they settle near the middle somewhere. Go check out pretty much any of them and the pattern is the same.
Except Bert didn't go way high.
Some comparables
Burakovsky 2 years, 134 games 32-38-70 2x$4.9M
Bertuzzi 2 years 144 games 42-53-95
Bertuzzi 2 years 144 games 42-53-95
Fabbri 93 games 17-21-38 2x$2.95
Kubalik 1 season 68 games 30-16-46 2x3.7M
Bertuzzi 1 season 61 games 21-27-48
Bertuzzi 2 years 144 games 42-53-95
Niederreiter 164 games 45-55-100 5x5.25M
Bertuzzi 2 years 144 games 42-53-95
Anderson 108 games 28-23-51 7X5.5M
Bertuzzi 2 years 144 games 42-53-95
Domi 2 years 153 games 45-71-116 2x5.3M
Bertuzzi 2 years 144 games 42-53-95
Virtanen 139 games 33-28-61 2x2.55M
Bertuzzi 2 years 144 games 42-53-95
Valerie Nischuskin 122 games 13-24-37 2x2.5
Bertuzzi 2 years 144 games 42-53-95
Kevin Lebanc 152 games 31-58-89 4x4.725
This Bertuzzi thing doesn't make much sense.
It's pretty difficult trying to understand hw
I’m optimistic that a deal will get done soon...Me thinks a 5 yr deal with a aav $4M to $4.25M makes sense for both sides.Probably the covid situation brought down his ask. It's not like the players are unaware that their salaries were going to take a hit. Travis Dermott just signed for less than 900, 000 and he would have probably gotten in the 2-3 range in a normal year.

The guy has a lower points per game than Cholowski on a loaded offense and is about as good as him defensively. Dermott is a guy that is constantly overrated by Leafs fans so he is thought of highly around here. What he actually is when on the ice and statistically isn't what their fanbase is peddling. Through 157 NHL games he has a .26 scoring average, like I said Cholowski has a .27 through 88 games. Seems his contract is where it should be, without a big break out year for Cholowski I am expecting a similar contract for him next summer. Dermott has a lot of developing to do, he isn't a very good player right now, he has to round out a lot of his game. Being an offensive d-man that doesn't score enough while struggling in your own end isn't a great thing.
I think Covid is impacting these guys some, but the cash strapped Leafs aren't really in a position to pay their third pairing D-man a ton of money and that is what he is right now.
Dermott is a 7th D after Mikko Lehtonen will join the team.
It's not a joke, Teams always start low and player always starts high. That's how arbitration works then they meet in the middle.Yzerman's $3,15M offer is a joke.
I think they settle at like 6x4.75 or some shit.
