Montreal being dumbasses and signing Anderson to that contract doesn’t help. I even think that Gallagher is overpaid but I might be in the minority on that
Yes but considering how covid is impacting contracts and given his relatively small sample size i think Yzerman's offer is fair.

Yzerman's $3,15M offer is a joke.
I think they settle at like 6x4.75 or some shit.

Not a joke. This is how arbitration situations go 100% of the time. Team goes in way low and players go in way high and they settle near the middle somewhere. Go check out pretty much any of them and the pattern is the same.

After the hearing but before the verdict. That is what I said.

Not a single player in the last 12 years has agreed to settle AFTER THE VERDICT.
As it turns out, that's no longer even possible:

Tyler Bertuzzi, Detroit Red Wings more than $1 million apart in arbitration briefs

"It’s common practice for a player to aim high and a team to aim low. In 2018, then-RFA Andreas Athanasiou filed for arbitration, but the sides reached an agreement before needing an arbitrator. But in a change to the CBA this year, once an arbitration hearing has started, the two sides cannot settle."

Huh... Any source other than the Free Press say that as well?

So does that mean Bertuzzi will get the one-year deal at whatever "arbitered" AAV?

If he and the team go to a hearing, my understanding is he could get two years from the arbitrator but the team has the ability to cancel the second year if they so choose.

It won’t matter in my opinion, they will work something out before Sunday.

Thanks for the update to the arbitration rules guys, I was obviously not aware of the new rule.
As mentioned in the article, the arbitration date is Sunday 10/25, so they only have 2 more days to work out a deal, otherwise we're looking at a one year deal for around $3.7M. (Yeah, lazy to just split the difference, but most arbitration deals wind up close to the middle.)

Except Bert didn't go way high.

Probably the covid situation brought down his ask. It's not like the players are unaware that their salaries were going to take a hit. Travis Dermott just signed for less than 900, 000 and he would have probably gotten in the 2-3 range in a normal year.

I’m optimistic that a deal will get done soon...Me thinks a 5 yr deal with a aav $4M to $4.25M makes sense for both sides.

The guy has a lower points per game than Cholowski on a loaded offense and is about as good as him defensively. Dermott is a guy that is constantly overrated by Leafs fans so he is thought of highly around here. What he actually is when on the ice and statistically isn't what their fanbase is peddling. Through 157 NHL games he has a .26 scoring average, like I said Cholowski has a .27 through 88 games. Seems his contract is where it should be, without a big break out year for Cholowski I am expecting a similar contract for him next summer. Dermott has a lot of developing to do, he isn't a very good player right now, he has to round out a lot of his game. Being an offensive d-man that doesn't score enough while struggling in your own end isn't a great thing.

I think Covid is impacting these guys some, but the cash strapped Leafs aren't really in a position to pay their third pairing D-man a ton of money and that is what he is right now.

I wasn't going by Leaf fans opinions on Dermott, as I have seen him play quite a few games at this point. I think he is currently a lot better than Cholowski, with regards to moving the puck even if the pts aren't coming.

Dermott is a 7th D after Mikko Lehtonen will join the team.

Depends on how they use Bogosian. I think Bogosian will be a regular #6 for them, but maybe they platoon Bogosian, Dermott, Sandin and Lehtonen this season.
