DD for a pick. Move on. Enough of the small experiment
Yes, please. Small with heart - Gallagher- is fine. But DD?

I am ready to divorce Pleks...
Time to move on. He is a great player but I would like to see someone new in his spot....
Especially after 10 years.
If we can get a young player and 1st round draft pick for Plekanec or trade him with 25th overall to get a top 5 to 7 picks, I would do it.
Future top two centres:
Galchenyuk
Eller
I think P. Roy has seen Pleks a lot and would value him on the Avs. Avs 2nd round ( 32 ) + player or 3rd rounder ( 63 )
Pleks is known throughout the league. Most other GM's rate Pleks as one of the best 2nd centers in the League Good offense and a great defense player. Is a good contract also. For sure some GM's would make a good offer to MB. Nobody is getting a huge overpayment but Pleks true value to some teams is quite high. An early 2nd this year and a big good winger enforcer that "CAN" score. This would free up more cap space for MB. Maybe enough to beat any offer for Vinny.

Sign Lecavalier, trade Plekanec for a big, robust scoring winger... where do I sign up? Ship off Desharnais, too, please. Habs have need size down the middle for years now, so adding Leacavalier to play with Eller, Gally and White would be sick.
Plekanec is a good player, but far too soft... I'd move him for a guy like J.Neal, C.Perry, G.Stewart etc.

Chris Stewart for Thomas Plekanec? Are you serious. Oh lord.
Why the hell would Pittsburgh trade Neal for Plekanec...same with Anaheim.
You guys are dreaming in technicolor.
He has only played 8 full seasons, but has been the team's leading scorer twice, and their most important forward for much longer than that, but it's HIM you're ready to divorce? lol.
But seriously, why does he have to be completely removed from the situation in order to put "someone new in his spot"? The logic borders on painful to contemplate.

Plekanec has been great for us but if the right offer comes up to prop up other areas of the team I wouldn't hesitate to trade him. Especially if we win the Lecavalier sweepstakes, it'll just make him that much more expendable.

Plekanec is worth at least a 1st rounder, even in this draft.
Which spot, the #1 offensive center spot? We have Galchenyuk for that, in less than a year I predict.
For the #1 DEFENSIVE center spot? Who is available that is better?
I'd prefer to keep Pleks for another year and give Chucky another year on the wing with Eller. Deal Plekanec at the deadline for a big return and shift him to center then.
Trade DD no matter what though.

No, but we can expect to rely on them. Building for the future, dealing with potentials and expectations is our only real hope of building a contending team IMO. There are risks but it's the only way to get above where we are now (unless we want to be bottom feeders and rely on high picks for several years). We only have so many assets, we need to improve on those assets if we want to get anywhere.
