I don't think the Rams is a good matchup for the Lions at all. Basing it entirely on their games against the Bears, Goff was seeing ghosts because of pressure, and the Rams are MUCH better at generating pressure than the Bears are.
The only thing I'd say is this.
Everyone seems to have forgotten that the Bears ripped the roster part in his first year. Khalil Mack, Quin and Roquan Smith all dumped. They were tanking on purpose. They wanted to be bad.
So now I see people (not your post here) citing their record in 2 years. The 14 game losing streak.
It's kind of a ridiculous take to have IMO. They were bad on purpose and to me I'm surprised they got better as fast as they did. Yes maybe its a bit of fool's gold from the weak schedule.
But what did you all seriously expect a year out from ripping the roster apart?
I'm not as out on Eberflus as some. I worry that he needs a great 3T for him system to work, and if he doesn't have that I think he needs to be a lot more on with blitzing than he has been, because good QBs with good lines pick that zone defense apart (again, except Goff for whatever reason).
Next year is big. I don't know where the team would get a 3T from (unless they splash for Chris Jones, which actually could happen), and the defense getting picked apart by good offenses would be a bad look for both Eberflus and Poles.
Then again, as I noted after the press conference, I don't think Eberflus is as dead set on calling the defense as it was reported earlier.
