I think an awesome group, that brings a variety of skill sets to the table, including a ton of skill and some much needed jam would be...

Nylander / Matthews / Kapanen
Hyman / Tavares / Marner
Mikheyev / Kadri / Perry
Johnsson / Pirri / Braco or Korshkov

I like the idea of shifting Johnsson to the Tavares line to give Marner another shooter. Hyman has worked well with Matthews and Nylander in the past. Mikheyev likely slots in with Kadri and Kapanen

I know korshkov has pretty much never played LW but as a left handed player maybe babs convinces him to give it a try. Maybe to start Mikheyev on the 3lw and korshkov 4lw and see from there?

He's slotted as a LW on most depth charts I've seen.

Interesting according to Russian prospect poster who pops in here from time to time he has never played lw for any serious amount of time. A lot of Russian wingers seem to ply their off wing. Let’s hope korshkov can switch easily

I know it was just a highlight package but I really liked how he played.

No fear in his rushes and had a ton of power moves.

Ya I watched a couple of videos and was pretty impressed. He can skate in traffic and stick handle very well. Looks big on ice too.

That’s a bold claim. I think people overlook how good Johnsson is. His stat line was great for a rookie last year and that’s despite getting 4th line minutes for a solid chunk of the season.

Its bold in the sense I haven't seen much of Mikheyev yet. I could be wrong. But form the little I've seen, I think Ilya has the better toolset.

I think Johnsson is getting massively overrated around these parts as well. I view him as your average 3rd line winger... I think Mikheyev might have 2nd line potential, who can PK.

I think he'll play with Kadri. I can see the Leafs grabbing some vets in the FA market, while bringing up a couple Marlies.

Lineup should be something like:

Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander
Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Mikheyev-Kadri-Bracco
Moore-Petan-Perry
Gauthier

Rielly-Pesce
Muzzin-Stralman
Dermott-Hainsey
Rosen

JMO,

There is no way Corey Perry would play on Toronto's 4th over Jeremy Bracco, who has never played an NHL game. I highly doubt Perry would even sign with a team that wasn't going to play him in their top 9.

A third line of...

Mikheyev / Kadri / Perry

Or

Johnsson / Kadri / Perry

Seems more realistic.

I think it was obviously the plan is to have Johnsson and Mikheyev swap lines throughout the season when healthy:

Hyman Tavares Marner
_______ Matthews Nylander
_______ Kadri Kapanen
Moore Gauthier Brown
Engvall

Hyman-Tavares-Marner
Johnsson-Matthews-Nylander
Mikeyhev-Kadri-Perry
Moore-Gauthier-Korshkov
Petan

*Sorry Bracco... want you in here but I know people think we'll need size.
**Still see Kap and Brown being dealt, we have holes to plug

Rielly-Tanev
Muzzin-Miller
Dermott-Liljegren
Rosen

Andersen
Sparks

That's how I see this lineup with everyone healthy realistically.. though my lineup is:

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Johnsson-Tavares-Nylander
Tanev-Kadri-Perry <-- Monster shut down line for us
Mikeyev-Petan-Bracco
Moore

*Sorry Moore see Bracco above, it'll be a fight for 12th spot while Hymans out IMO

Rielly-Pesce
Muzzin-Tanev
Dermott-Miller

Andersen

I agree.

My thought was spread out the speed/skill and run the top lines with very heavy minutes and split the bottom 6 minutes a bit more evenly.

Perry alongside Tavares would be nice.

Marner would stay with Tavares. I'd expect Perry to lineup with Kadri, at least to start. If he finds his groove, then maybe he moves up with Matthews & Nylander

Kinda a land slide for Kadri, surprised because there's a 50/50 chance he is here in October.

You kind of feel bad for Kadri. He's kind of in limbo. Zaitsev asked out, so he's happy about trade rumours for him, and the writing is kind of on the wall for Brown so it would be more of just a pleasant surprise if he wasn't dealt at this point, but Kadri is, as you said, 50/50. Nothing certain either way at this point, but at least it should be figured out by early July and he can rest easy.

This kid was one of the better young scorers in the KHL last year.

Not exactly a stretch. He’ll be in our top 9 to start, because he should be.

I have him taking Marleau’s spot next to Kadri. Likely Kapanen on the RW.

Kadri has always had a vet on his wing, Leo for a few years, Marleau for a few years. Would not be surprised to see the Leafs sing a cheap vet who is a PK specialist and put him on the wing with Kadri.
