Kinda surprised to see Mike come out and say ( 50 sec mark) a guy with zero years NHL experience is going to be a big part of our team next year.

Who will be Mikheyev's center next year?

I have him beside Kadri. Could be given a higher spot to start with Hyman out

Thing is, it’s June 23rd. We don’t know yet what this team will look like

He's a 6'2" winger that can skate and make plays. Makes sense that he'd be a favourite to have a role next season.

It's pretty early though and there are plenty of things that can happen before training camp.

I think this guy and maybe Perry, if he'll take a bargain basement deal would be interesting adds to our team for next season. I'm not 100% sure though how the lineup would shake out if we got both though.

I know it was just a highlight package but I really liked how he played.

No fear in his rushes and had a ton of power moves.

just from the KHL highlights, Mikheyev looks more impressive to me than either Zaitsev or Ozhiganov. Great motor, works well in a crowd (well the KHL version of one), good hands, good shot, good vision, fast. I could see him being a guy that we need so make cap space next year to keep

With the current forward group:

Johnsson - Matthews - Nylander
Hyman - - - Tavares - - - Marner
Micheyev - - Kadri - - - Kapanen

I expect at least one or two forwards to be flipped for defence, not sure who at this point.

It will really depend on who is and isn't here within the forward group. Too early to say "what you see is what you'll get" regarding that. A (left) winger will be filling in for Hyman until he returns from injury. That player might be expected to drop down in the lineup once Hyman returns to form.

Obviously they like what they see. I guess thats a good sign especially seeing how far out we are from the season. Still room for some off season improvement.

The obvious biggest factor in the big Russian making the team is his <$1mil cap hit. When you have 3 guys making more than 40% of the cap, assuming Marner gets 11 mil and 4 guys making almost 50% of the cap, the value contracts become more of a factor than experienced skill players.

I think he plays with Matthews, giving Matthews 3 different LW in 3 years.

Adding those two pieces would add some much needed sandpaper to our lineup.
