I know playing “what if” gets you nowhere. But imagine for a second that we drafted Mcavoy instead of Jost and Pettersson instead of Makar.
Every team can saying something like that. May be Makar can be better than Mcavoy and Jost continu To improve and Petersson have a concusion issue for long time.

Just Bednar? Does anyone believe Greer is still a realistic NHL prospect?

If Greer can dedicate himself to studying and carving out a PK role, than he can carve out a role in the NHL like Gabe Bourque. He's faster and more skilled than Bourque as well.

I mean taking McAvoy over Jost woulda been awesome, but I'm sure Buffalo, Ottawa, New Jersey and Carolina are all saying the same thing.

Pokecheque

I’ve been told it’s spelled “Pokecheck”

Last year people were lamenting the fact the Avs took Rantanen instead of Brock Boeser or Mathew Barzal. Thankfully I haven't seen anyone say anything to start the year with that but I'm sure once Rants hits a slump it'll happen.

I feel like the Avs and hockey in general are confounding and frustrating enough as is. If you wanna add to that, hey, knock yerselves out.

Greer could easily be a bottom 6 NHL guy, he has all the tools and the skillset. For him its really just focusing on if his game will be more of a PK specialist or if he can ever find the offensive game to be a mainstay on an NHL squad. Bottom 6 roles are some of the most fluid and competitive spots as there are a ton of options for many teams. He'll make it in the NHL though, when or where are more so the questions I have.
Avs by the trade deadline

What makes you say that? As is with each day he finds more competition in guys like Kamanev and Dano. What do you think will change at the TDL?
Injuries mostly lol , plus I think the size would come in handy and I think Joe will stand pat again on the trade front . Just a gut feeling , when I watcb him in the A he looks too good do that league. If not then I could see him in Bourque spot next year. Plus with Loveland just up the road , he could be recalled sooner and stick .

Waiting for Makar is the only option on defence but I really really hope Sakic is able to make a trade for a legit 2nd line winger by the deadline and we need a better 4th liner than Gork or Dries (or Nieto once he gets demoted there I'll assume). We absolutely cannot take the next step with a below-average 4th line, we don't have some other superstar forward coming in to boost the rest of the team.

The 4th line will be fine once we're healthy, and honestly Dano is decent enough pick-up. A legit 2nd line winger isn't going to be the reason we have a successful season. It's definitely a glaring weakness at the moment, but (at least the start of this season), Kerfoot has been playing like a 2nd line winger.

The development of Jost, Kerfoot, Andrighetto, Kamenev, and Compher is what will make or break the season. We basically need another 1st line talent to carry our 2nd line. A legitimate 2nd line winger is a player like Niederrieter, Krieder, Smith, etc. Those players are great and would definitely boost our 2nd line, but they won't help turn it into a legit 2nd line unless Jost/Kerfoot/etc. develop as well.

I could live with trading for Kreider. Hasn't he had injury issues though?

In that what if scenario I’d probably have became a Jackets fan...
