Looking at the stats, they seem to be struggling to score goals. Krejci and Bergeron aren't producing well enough compared to the past. They don't have good depth either.

Marner should've got in too. Only a few points behind Laine with 3 less GP and has been on fire lately.

Marchand is the only player he could've supplanted, as Nielsen, Okposo and Trocheck are all the sole representatives from their respective teams, and Kucherov and Matthews have out-performed him (statistically at least).

I hate Marchand with a fiery passion, so I certainly must admit I would rather see Marner there than him.

You were right I think that combo is the best. Any of the 3 Dmen with Matthews and Kucherov/Marchand.
