The Bruins lost to the Habs four (4) consecutive playoffs in the 1950's.

In 1952, in 7 games in the semi final.
In 1953, in 5 games in the cup final.
In 1954, in 4 games in the semifinal.
In 1955, in 5 games in the semifinal.

I knew about this in the late 1970s when CBC used to repeatedly feature it as part of the history of the Montreal-Boston rivalry (that was intense in my youth).

Skip a year and it keeps going...

1957: lost in 5 in the final
1958: lost in 6 in the final

6 times in 7 years is rough

The late 50's Habs came to mind when I first read the post, but they won a lot of their playoff series in 4 or 5 games and HO was looking for 6 or 7

This is a strange sig from VI: "(Orr's CAREER is marginal top 10. If that.)"
He had a 9-year injury-riddled career, twice outvoted by his peers for teammate Esposito.

5 of his 8 postseasons were underwhelming.

Don Cherry has spent decades claiming he's better than Howe & Gretzky, and many of my fellow Canadians buy that shyte (to use a Brit term). That aside,...

To say there may be TEN BETTER CAREERS (not talents, careers) is far from controversial, hopefully, if people appreciate hockey history).

Former Team Canada and NHL coach Dave King will present his new book on the History of Hockey board today and will be available to answer questions. Should be a pretty rare occasion to chat with someone who has coached hockey at the highest level.

F*** the Internet.

I am a 9-time chess champion.

Elementary school, town, province, middle school, high school, university,... never sat in a room with someone i couldn't beat (except the Grade 4 elementary national finals in York, Ontario - there i was one of the worst in the room).

I now... regularly have my ass handed to me online in chess. The lesson: there is always someone better and worse; just do YOUR best, and let things result as they must.

I don't think we've ever done one, but after the OPPF ends and before we get the main draft on for 2022 anyone interested in a Pre-Consolidation ATD?

Player's careers pre-consolidation are all that count, open to keeping the rover or eliminating it. Maybe less than 12F 6D 2G a team tho

I would be in for sure. I’d suggest keeping the rover, and going with 2 sets of players- your starters and reserves. So 12 skaters and 2 goalies per team.

I think I like the 12 total skaters and 2 goalies

LW - C - RW
R
P
CP
G

Then whatever 4 spares you want for skaters

12 skaters would equal two full sets of players, though, right? Not just 4 spares…

My preference would be 12 skaters and 2 goalies for a total of 14 players per team.

I’d also suggest player coaches being a thing, so as to not add another round.

No, because there is a rover: a 7-man line up.

12 is odd... 5 extras...

10 makes more sense: get a 2nd forward, rover, defender.

I suggest re-counting; 12 skaters is not 5 extras, it is 7 extras… a spare for each position/two sets of players, depending on how you wish to look at it.

That said, I’d be fine with just 3 spares, but I do think that 7 would force us to pay a little more attention to the era in question.

Also would matter how many GMs we have

Because goalies will be an ugly time outside of Vezina, Lehman, Benedict, Lesueur & Holmes
