Should challenge. Longest offseason he’s had in yearsThe field. I think Crosby wins it again this yr.
To be fair the last two years have been very close at the top in points per game, but Mcdavid has stayed healthy, credit to him. If he misses a few games here and there he could easily not win.You think there's a better chance McDavid misses some significant time due to injury rather than staying healthy this year?

Crosby didn't have to go up against Crosby. Mcdavid does.I'm thinking McDavid takes it again. The Art Ross is a bit more boring of a race nowadays than it used to be. McDavid, being the only young generational talent in the league right now, obviously doesn't face the same kind of competition for the trophy that 2006-2014 Crosby, Malkin and Ovechkin went up against (i.e., each other).
He did that on a crap team while playing through the flu
Crosby didn't have to go up against Crosby. Mcdavid does.
There are different versions of time period and there is a thing called context. Looking at the context of how when and with who those 100+ points were scored, and looking at Crosby today I'd argue Crosby is a better goal scorer now and vastly more experienced and is a better all around player now than he's ever been. There are different versions of Crosby though. There's 2005-2014 Crosby, who consistently scored 100+ points in a season when healthy. Then there is 2015-Present Crosby, who scores an average of ~87 points per season. This is the Crosby that McDavid has been competing against, which is a far cry from peak Crosby.

Crosby was injury prone though. Also McDavid doesn't have a prime Ovi or Malkin to go up against. Not yet at least.
He was already on a completely different level than the field last year.
I disagree. Crosby is just as good a point scorer as he's ever been. In 16/17 Crosby was a beast, he was on pace for 97 points in one of the lower scoring seasons in a while and challenged McDavid. Even Dom Luszczyszyn did the math and worked out that based on the way league scoring had dipped in the past decade, that Crosby's 102 point season would translate to 85 points in 16/17 which confirms my observations that he's still the same dominant Crosby who is actually even a bit better now. The only things holding him back from an Art Ross are injuries and McDavid. And that's fair, you could easily argue that he's a better all-round player and more effective overall than he was in the past. My point though was that from 2015 to the present day, Crosby hasn't been an Art Ross threat in the same way that he was from 2005 to 2014. Current Crosby just doesn't pose the same threat to McDavid's chances of winning the scoring title as pre-2015 Crosby would have.
im taking McDavid if healthy who is better? no one.
