OT: Around the NHL - where coaches are hired to be fired

Ovi is incredible. I know some of us kinda like to make fun of him, but he honestly *might* be the GOAT goal scorer, all things considered (I.e. era, shot, longevity, the fact he rarely gets hurt).

The Caps are a force to be reckoned with, as usual. Absolutely going to need solid D and goaltending against them with how they can score in bunches, so easily.

Confortably behind Mario and Gretzky both of whom did not take a gazillion shots a game while doing pretty much nothing else.

The recency bias with Ovechkin pisses me off.

He is not the greatest goal scorer of all time and will never be, even if he would miraculously reach 1000. He is a specialist and that's fine. Have guys like Mario, Gretzky or Howe concentrate STRICTLY on goal scoring and they would score 60+ every year.

Ovechkin is essentially a rich man's Brett Hull.

He maximized his skill set and is still VERY VERY productive in his mid-thirties. The Caps built their strategy around him and it mostly paid off.

But people putting him in Sid/Geno territory or calling him the best goal scorer of all time. That pisses me off.

I'd still take Sid/Geno, they take games over. We have seen Geno as a 1C with wingers, that shits scary! Geno is Lemieux like when he's rolling.

Ovechkin is the greatest goal scorer relative to his era. I got no beef with giving him props. Doesn’t mean he’s not one dimensional af and hasn’t had a 90 pt season or been on pace for one since he turned 26 but yea.

I hate the Caps with a passion but at this point I’d rather the teams lower than us in the standings lose...let the Caps have their celebratory regular season and get the President’s Cup...I think us catching them was pretty much a pipe dream anyway...all I care about is destroying them in the POs...

I don't think the Pens will beat out the Caps for 1st in the division. So you might as pull for an Isles loss the rest of the way, giving the Pens home ice come playoff time.

Outside of the steroid scandal where he drastically lost muscle mass all of a sudden and struggled out of nowhere and then rebounded a year or two later.

Just an odd coincidence I think.

Difference is we gotta do everything ourselves while facing extreme advercity all season, Caps get their shit on a silver platter and don't face advercity so we are REALLY battle tested compared to them when that shit is in the playoffs.
