that would work like ice? Not that I can't think of. The ice still needs to be able to melt under the skates, with some digging in. I mean I guess maybe some synthetic ice could be made, but not just some coat on top of ice.

Sorry, didn't mean on top of the ice. Meant under the ice but on top of all the lines, dots, circles, etc. that they paint under it.

Beats me. My thinking was they'd be able to make some sort of absorbing layer that makes the ice not so shitty because of sunlight.

As a human -- I completely empathize. This is miserable.

As a fan -- this is unacceptable. When you make the decision, you can't have the f***ing sun be a factor on a 32 degree standard day.

As a long term hockey fan -- this is par for the course. We are a niche sport.

I guess you could with the right system. It's tough because either it reflects the light back through the ice, or it absorbs ice and heats up the ground. So in the end it would rely on better cooling/heatsink underneath anyway.
