Btw, I believe Pouliot wasn't traded to TOR just because they wanted (needed) Kapanen more.

I thought the rumor was they were asking for Pouliot, but JR was able to negotiate Kap instead (and was fine to do so since they just drafted Sprong. Lol).

That was the rumor yes. It makes sense given what Toronto needed (puck moving dmen). Turns out they got the better prospect. Oh well.

Found a division banner from 2008.

Teams do this stuff. ESPECIALLY if they haven't had major success in the past. Once you get Stanley Cups, these things are less important to the franchise and fandom.
