The Kostin equivalence is very debatable given the differences in upside between him and Balcers, but their seasons (adjusted for ice time, age, competition, etc) were similar (Kostin was slightly better).

We probably wouldn’t have been able to absorb Karlsson’s cap hit, and we definitely wouldn’t have been able to re-sign him, but... that’s a helluva trade from San Jose’s perspective.

Tierney is probably more like Edmundson, we don't have a good forward comp for him.

Pronger for 3 players that didn’t move the needle.

I doubt it, but the Blues have the pieces to acquire him pretty easily and with him and Tarasenko as a 1-2 punch on the RW could be deadly along with ROR and Schenn.
