Hopefully by that point we'll have actually made the playoffs. It's gotta eat at guys like him and Faulk to not have made it. No matter how much money you get, how much you like the area, the direction of the team, and your role on the team, you need to taste some success at some point.

That sound you hear is Jeff Skinner's personal bank vault groaning as it opens while they back up the Brinks truck to its door.

Skinner at wing will have a different comparable than RyJo. Maybe Cam Atkinson if he has another 30+ goal season?

He's unlikely to stay at six million. He's delivered and improved, he's getting a raise if he stays with us. I don't like the idea of paying a winger 8 million if we don't have a top center - but he's gonna ask for raise.

I think if he asks for $8 million you have to give it to him, if that's the going rate.

Watch a Nashville game, then watch a Canes game. Who's having a bigger impact? Johansen or Skinner? I think we all know the answer there.

On the main board thread about worst draft picks a sabres fan just said f they had taken Suter instead of Vanek it would have given them enough depth on defence to beat the canes in the playoffs even though Suter was a rookie that year.

I love that they still hold onto this. It kills them and will kill them until they win a Stanley Cup, therefore forever.

LOL

Yeah, I mean, passing on Suter kinda sucks, but Vanek was a huge player for them for like 10 years. 254 goals, 497 points in 598 games. This is the guy you single out? Come on.

So there's a thread on the main boards calling on people to rank their division based on forward corps, defensive corps, goaltending, coaching, GM. Thought this might be of interest - here's the number of votes we have in each position

| Forwards | Defense | Goaltending | Coaching | GM
1st|0|8|0|0|0
2nd|0|4|0|1|0
3rd|0|1|0|2|2
4th|0|0|0|1|2
5th|3|0|0|2|3
6th|0|0|5|2|0
7th|7|0|2|0|1
8th|2|0|5|1|0

Cullen signs in Minnesota for family reasons. It's really fun to see him still playing. I'd absolutely love to see him just become one of the NHL's great ironmen alongside the Howes, Jagrs, and Chelioses of the world. Now that he's home and his wife and kids will be in a stable situation, that's somewhat plausible.

Any of you ever see this?

I find this fascinating because I am always curious how the trading of top talent players, or really any players, shakes out. Just from the video, it seems very disorganized and the room looks like it is full of "yes-men" or at least group think.

A lot of that is company culture. The Bruins organization is one of the worst at having a bunch of guys who think the same way and end up making terrible decisions as a result. They've done it over and over with a whole bunch of star players.

You could take that video and use it to train corporate managers NOT to create an environment where that sort of thing can happen.

So apparently the Senators are closing off 1500 seats in their arena according to the main board. So if we're going by what all the traditionalists and relocations experts like to preach, this means the Sens are going to have to relocate. Atlanta Thrashers 2.0 coming to an arena near you. Sorry S1C2

Oh it's not like it's a far fetched scenario. Maybe the Atlanta part...

Until he gets traded and we see the return, we won't know if Sakic screwed up or not. And I don't think his value is dropping at all right now. Having a miserable season where he only scored 40 points is the only thing that likely affected his value.
