And they aren't even high pedigree guys. Just a bunch of people in the system who are now NHL'rs because somebody has to be. That's going to be fun.

Yeah, here's the same lineup, this time in terms of age/draft pedigree/GP.

20yo/#20/0gp - 22yo/undrafted/5gp
37yo/#29/874gp - 28yo/#150/130gp
24yo/undrafted/0gp - 20yo/#53/0gp
28yo/undrafted/122gp

There are so many red flags. It's basically a geriatric Kronwall and a bunch of guys who are a bad idea for anything higher than 7D. Bernier and Howard are going to argue over who gets to sit out.

So, this is Detroit's defense this season:

Dennis Cholowski (21, LHD) - Joe Hicketts (02, LHD)
Niklas Kronwall (55, LHD) - Nick Jensen (03, RHD)
Libor Sulak (47, LHD) - Filip Hronek (17, RHD)
Brian Lashoff (32, LHD) -
and people say that tanking in hockey is a myth. Even if the players and coaches are going to be trying their hardest management can always throw out this level of "talent".

Pickard and McBackup on waivers. How does the order work right now? A few people think Calgary will claim a goalie, but if it's based off last year's points the Canes have the first chance right?
This is correct. They finished 1 point ahead of us in the standings last year so we'd get first crack at Pickard/McBackup.

And this, my waivers-questioning friends, is why waivers exists in the NHL. I'm sure Toronto would have *loved* keeping Pickard/McBackup as their duo in the AHL. But that's not fair to the players, whose only mistake was being on a team with four quality goalies. Without waivers, Toronto gets to keep these guys around forever, using them any way they see fit. For a guy like McBackup, specifically, who only has a few earning years left, that's totally unfair.

What am I missing about DeKeyser?

We can btw send McBackup down if need be without having to put him on new waivers for 30 days unless he plays 10 games.

edit: btw, we can't. Obviously he didn't clear the waivers.

I don’t think that’s true. I think that would be the case for Toronto if he had cleared waivers.

If that were true, no one would ever go unclaimed. “Borderline NHL player, free to stash on your minor league roster, you don’t even need space for him.”

Damn, you're right. I failed to realize that he didn't clear the waivers, as he was claimed. I was confusing to the traded after waivers scenario that came up a week ago.

Jesperi Kotkaniemi of MTL, whose picking at 3OA excracted horrified facial expressions from a lady wearing Montreal jersey at the Entry Draft, will be the first born in 2000's player to play in any of the four big leagues.

(not first born, but first of the born...s)

(first player to have born in the 2k's)

Lucky bastard beats Svech by a day.

I guess that Rasmus is going to play too on the 4th?
