Yeah. Signing a 31 year old journeyman goalie and a 25 year old proven young goalie are totally the same thing.
The age difference is legit but Varlamov is hardly a proven goalie.

He is a .920 2.50 GAA type starter when the team in front of him is at least moderately competitive. Mike Smith had never done that prior to the Coyotes, nor has he done it in the two seasons since his one .930 2.21 year. Chalk up the performances of either to whatever you want. I know who I'd be more willing to give that style of contract to. The age difference is just gravy on top.

That's fine but your original assertion that Varlamov is proven is not true. When he puts up back to back good seasons he'll be proven.

Was watching the Kings Pens game last night. The broadcast made mention that Dustin Brown has exactly one road point all season long, and only 16 in total all season long in 54 games. Kings owe him a shade under 10 million next year. :handclap::handclap::handclap:

CAL beats Minny in OT. 1 point behind 8th, with a game in hand; 3 points from 7th with 2 games in hand; and 4 points from 6th with 2 games in hand. Spot s9-11 are not far away either. It's officially scoreboard watching season.

We'll still have games in hand at the break. Beating Dallas twice would help us quite a bit.

We need to get 4 out of the possible 6 points before the break.

I could easily see Vancouver losing 3 out of those 4.

Minnesota will probably beat Nashville and will put up quite a fight with Tampa.

I see LA losing to Chicago on 2/3 but beating the Jackets on 2/6.

Seeing it that way, too. Getting all 3 would be sweet, though. Gotta win on "Miracle" night.
