D Jacob Moverare waived by the Kings. 6'3", 210 lbs 25 years old.

Scouting 2016:
"A big and strong defenseman. Moverare is a very competitive player capable of logging big minutes and playing a simple and smart game. Has good hockey sense and decent offensive tools, but is more likely to develop into a solid stay-at-home defenseman at the next level. Nice timing in his physical game, fine positioning in most situations and a good character. Skating is okay, although his acceleration could use some improvement"

"A quick-thinking, strong, two-way defender. He moves well up ice with the puck as he surveys his options and makes hard, well-timed passes"

Cap hit $762,500, so a cheap physical good size replacement for Merrill/Mermaid. Worst case he could be a good D in Iowa

Prices seem kind of low, so far. Well see what Guentzel goes for, which might reset the market a bit.
They are all over the place; I agree that a 2nd is high for Wennberg, but teams are desperate for centers.

Sean Walker and a fifth rounder went for Ryan Johansen and a first round pick

Mantha went for a 2nd round pick.

Four first round picks have been moved. Lower picks, but still moved.

We're not allowed to be involved in any of those transactions because of our LTIR situation.

Yeah because if you have LTIR space you can fill it with players and then have everyone play in the playoffs, but the league thinks it's a no-no if you use it to retain salary to acquire a 5th round draft pick lol

Hertl to Vegas is the kind of bombshell trade we all deserved this year

Vegas going to roll out a $150 million team come game 1 or round 1. Exaggerating, of course. But it's f***ing ridiculous.

Step 1) Hertl and Stone are both on LTIR through the end of the year
Step 2) They're both magically healthy come game 1 of the first round
Step 3) Maybe the NHL finally addresses this loophole? Tbd

Highly doubtful on step 3. They should, but I'm not holding my breath.

Strange how this happens to only a certain two franchises all the time.

So, we are heavily punished for violating the spirit, but not the law, of salary cap rules at the time, but THIS is just fine?

The underlying principal in both cases is to not allow a well heeled team to buy their way to a championship, and to make a level playing field. NHL fail.

What's the underlying vice principal?

Dumba and a 2025 7th for a 2027 5th, just not a player that was worth bringing back, wish Guerin could have gotten anything for him when he had some value, but at least he didn't give him some ridiculous contract like he's done with some other guys
