Are the Habs even that good? I don’t think they are. We actually outplay them pretty much every game. And we, of course, are no good. Yet.

The reason for optimism there was Suzuki potentially in the midst of a 1C breakout. He has 2 points in his last 7 games.

There's a ceiling on a team offensively with depth in 2nd line types, but lacking game breakers. We saw that here in the latter Peters' years. In the year before Aho's point per game breakout, the team was 23rd in GF. The Habs are better than 13 goals in 7 games, but not what they were in January. I guess this is regression to the mean in progress.

I can say we, quite confidently, without being douchey sports fan.
I don't care about the "we" in talking about *this* team, but you're a goddamn douchey sports fan for saying it about *that* team.

But seriously, your comment was a head-scratcher because I thought maybe you were simply being a humble Canes fan. "We" doesn't work for the Sens.

You are hereby ordered to specify the proper name of the team you're referring to from now on, for a period lasting no shorter than one year and no longer than 32 years. My decision is final.

I mean, we’re not too far removed from 10 years of no playoffs here, versus a modicum of playoff success there. So let’s slow our roll.

I know, it’s weird I post here and don’t on the Sens forum. But you all are normal people (relatively speaking!) and they seem not to be. And, I live here and enjoy conversing with (mostly) locals.

Plus, I’m a canes fan too. ******WE****** are all in this together!!!

Who is worse: Krueger or Skinner who's about to be healthy scratch.

I genuinely don't understand what Krueger's trying to do. You're in last place. Eichel is under PPG and has only scored twice. Your top goal scoring machines are Victor Oloffson and Sam Reinhart. Skinner has been money for 30-40 goals a season for the past decade, has a contract that can only possibly be movable if he starts producing again, and is one of the only players in recent memory to pro-actively choose Buffalo as a destination.

What do you have to gain by burying the guy like that? It's not like this makes the Sabres a better team, and it's not like it's going to make Skinner a better player. You knew what he was when you handed him that contract. He's not a useful player on the 3rd line and he's certainly not useful from the press box, and it's creating a controversy that has no good reason to exist, and will undoubtedly metastasize into off-ice issues.

This is basically what you'd do if you wanted to sabotage the franchise on purpose.

Went to the Sabres board just to see how they’re reacting to this issue within their fanbase.

Noticed they still have the Skinner signing thread open. Looked at the last page, then the first page.

I can’t fully sympathize with them because that would just be wrong, but damn. It’s like reading a war diary in there.
We tried our everything to warn them that if they overpay him it would suck, but. Twenty fans, you gotta abridge.

Well, on the bright side, they only have 6 more years at $9M a year with a full NMC after this season.

They could buy him out though and have to pay him and have a cap hit until 2033.
