Published this morning. Bergevin wanted Rielly in 2012:

Translates to:

"Yes, I liked him very much. But I had just been hired on May 2, and my new staff liked Alex Galchenyuk very much. I was with Chicago that season, and we were drafting later. We weren't wasting our time with Galchenyuk, who was probably going to be chosen near the top; in addition, he had hardly played that winter. I looked at our situation at center, we had [David] Desharnais, [Tomas] Plekanec, and Chucky was considered a center. You're taking office, you haven't seen Galchenyuk play and you're going to force them to take another player? That starts a relationship well. I left them to choose. In addition, I agreed, I knew we needed centers. But I really liked Morgan Rielly. "

Easy for him to say now. Seems like he never owns any of the blame. If they had any other owner, he would have been gone two years ago.

C'est tampering!

Draisaitl 100 pts in 65 games. Freakin' unreal for a German born player to dominate in NHL like that

McDavid-Draisaitl is Crosby-Malkin on amphetamines. It's fun to laugh at them, and their pathetic draft record should never be forgotten, but I can't see the Oilers missing the playoffs too many times going forward.

Ahh the good old days two weeks ago, when the Penguins were a top tier team which teams like the Leafs couldn't hope to compete with.

Stamkos will need surgery out 6 8 weeks so he's done for the first round of playoffs for sure
I know he's a great player and all but did we maybe dodge a bullet when he didn't sign here? He seems to be a tad injury prone. Not Tanev or Lupul level, but just a bit glassy.

Stamkos trains really hard off-season...really pushes his body to the extreme...downside to that is all that stress on the body could lead to injuries without the right balance.

That takes care of Florida's game in hand at least for now.

the only way Florida is going to catch Toronto is if they beat them and Toronto falls off a cliff, otherwise Toronto will make the playoffs.

I might be overthinking it, but I think if Toronto makes the playoffs, they might surprise a lot of people.

There’s enough parity, that really any team can win a round or a bunch.
Would be a great outcome for the Leafs to win a series after a season of adversity like this one.

It would honestly be very impressive. That would wipe away some of the question marks about character/grit that I've had all season. They would have overcome some serious adversity.

Columbus Blue Jackets right wing Josh Anderson underwent successful surgery today to repair a posterior labral tear of his left shoulder and is expected to make a full recovery in four to six months, Blue Jackets General Manager and Alternate Governor Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The surgery was performed by Dr. Peter Millett at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado. Anderson suffered the injury against the Ottawa Senators on December 14.

"When Josh suffered the injury, the options were to have it surgically repaired and miss the rest of the season or rest and rehabilitate with a chance to return to the lineup," said Kekalainen. "Unfortunately, the injury has not responded as any of us had hoped to the latter and the decision was made to have the surgery now so that Josh will be fully healthy and ready to go next season."

Anderson, 25, has collected 65-50-115 and 212 penalty minutes in 267 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, including 1-3-4 and 17 penalty minutes in 26 outings this season. In 2018-19, he set career highs for goals, assists and points with 27-20-47 and 60 penalty minutes in 82 games. The 6-3, 222-pound winger was selected by Columbus in the fourth round, 95th overall, at the 2012 NHL Draft.

Leafs fans on the mainboard and trade forum should just stop arguing that AM is better than Drai at this point, that is a losing battle they are fighting.
