I think it's just something that makes sense, the best leaders are and always have been battle tested. McDavid might be the most gifted player in the NHL, but talent doesn't give you experience, that's something you only gain with time.
I was kinda commenting in a way that was tongue and cheek, but there's a significant amount of truth in Lucic's statement. I don't think he was trying to tear down CMD or the Oiler's org. I think he was commenting that young leadership and old leadership are different and he feels he probably fits better in old leadership (Gio/Iggy/Chara) rather than being part of the leadership core as the vet.
IMO, old leadership differs in a way that might be more... urgent maybe? Or in a way where they approach things in a way that's sometimes full bore and sometimes marathon. Young leadership might be a little more either balls to the wall or lacking in urgency?
Good to hear about Bennett. His shot is easily the worst part of his game
So it sounds like Bennett, Hanifin and Lucic all working on their finish?
I’ll believe it when I see it with Bennett. Seem to vaguely recall he said something similar last season, and it just didn’t translate in the end.
Maybe? But I seem to recall his training was all over the place. One season he worked a ton on strength and messed up his game so he had to fix a few things... hopefully he figures things out and gets into a good groove.
