I'd do it every day and twice on Sunday. The Rangers however, would not.

We could draft an equivalent to Fox with that pick and having a top 6 in Hayes and goalie like Raanta would be a no brainer.

Your right we would need to add, but the general idea of it I like.

The only time I have problems with "same lineup" are goaltender relational. If we fix between the pipes were a good team
Fair enough. I wouldn't be all that happy with both Elliott and Johnson back either. Bringing back one of them though is okay.

From the mainboard, would you guys do: Raanta, Hayes, 21OA for Fox and 16OA?

I for sure would.

Value wise, it's pretty fair; maybe more than fair.

However, Kevin Hayes as exclusively played centre at the NHL level and from what I remember of the Rangers board, the few times he was tried on the wing, he was entirely awful. Like not even NHL caliber bad. So it wouldn't be Gaudreau-Monahan-Hayes, it'd be Gaudreau-Hayes-Monahan, which, while hilarious, seems unlikely. And I'd rather move Hickey than Fox since the former doesn't appear to be inclined to sign here.

Plus I want Suzuki and there's a decent chance he'll be there at 16th.

I think Hayes is overrated and I would still take that deal.

The way Rangers fans described Hayes he's pretty much a PP specialist version of Colborne last year.

Talks about Flames goaltending possibilities at 27:10
  • Flames had significant interest on Darling
  • Inquired on Bishop
  • Both are American; might have been a disadvantage for a Canadian organization; both wanted to remain in the States
  • No doubt in Bob's mind that Calgary has interest in Fleury as a trade option
  • However, he guarantee's Calgary would not be on Fleury's approved list of trade options; maybe Pittsburgh going back to Murray at the first sign of trouble changes things; but lots of moving parts; wouldn't be surprised if Fleury was the Golden's Knights number one
  • Elliott is something of a consideration; but both parties would probably like to move on; it'd be tough to bring him back after the playoffs he had but door's not 100% closed

If Fleury maintains his position, then it's looking like Raanta/Grubauer+Johnson will be next year's duo. Unless of course, Treliving pulls a rabbit out of his hat and snags Mrazek.

This terrifies me. I sure as **** hope one of those guys has the eye of the tiger and wants to claim a job for himself.

Okay guys, hear me out:

Sean Monahan
Jon Gillies
16th OA

for

Carey Price

I love the **** out of Sean Monahan, but you also have to give to get. I highly highly highly doubt either management group would do this, but if they did - do you see this as fair value? Do we have to add?

If we package Monahan for Price, we essentially become the Montreal Canadiens of the west: A team with good goaltending but no offense or respectable center depth

Backlund and Bennett isn't bad depth at C. And we'd finally get to see Gaudreau - Backlund :naughty:

Thinking about it more my biggest misgiving would be Price's age. He's got probably six good years left in him, Monahan could be an effective player for the next 15.

Feel like Carey will probably go to a team with a strong goaltender already who want an upgrade.

Price has a year left. Best in the world or not, he won't return close to that without an extension in place. I'll take the proven 60 point, 23 year old centre, that's signed, over the 29 year goalie, who's due a huge pay day, with one year remaining, any day. Not to mention Price has already played a tone of hockey. He's 29 and already is only about a hundred games behind Kipper. Not really comparable because of Kipper's late start but there's something to be said for a heavy work load, when handing out those kinds of contracts.

Trading a 30 goal scorer like Monahan for a goalie is dumb. Price, the best goalie in the world has never even been to the SCF....should tell you all you need to know about overvaluing goalies. I might not ever be sold on "number one center Sean Monahan" but you take him out of the lineup altogether (instead of sensibly putting him on Sam Bennett or Mark Jankowski's wing) and you have created a 30 goal vacuum. You can win a Jennings Trophy without Carey Price. Elliott even has one. A goalie can win a Conn Smythe while being remarkably average... Fleury and Rinne are two of this year's lead candidates. But you can't win the cup without an offensively capable top 9.

Parsons, 16th overall + rights to Johnson for Murray, done deal. We get a proven goalie to grow with the team. Pens solve their expansion problems and add a future stud to their goal tending stable.

We run with a Murray/Gillies tandem next year. Pens go with Fleury/Jarry/Johnson combo, which ever they prefer.

Is it over payment....probably, but who wants to give up current assets for an aging goalie. Realistically, we hope Parsons becomes Murray plus it'll save some cap space for the next 3 years, while getting a true young, #1.

This offseason really hasn't even started and I already want it to be done due to the desperation moves on here for a goaltender

I would love it if Montreal sold Price for that cheap but it's clear they want a 1C in return, and they'll probably get one from somebody.

Yeah. I can't help but think that this is going to end up happening to the Flames if about 90% of these trade ideas actually got done in real life.
