The other thing Yandle has going is there is no free agent even close to him. Goligoski was the only one. The rest is a combination of old and washed up stuff like Campbell, Liles, Boyle, etc. Almost no quality puckmovers.
Not sure if Yandle signs in Florida, but I don't think Boston happens. I think they'll use their cap on Shattenkirk.
If he deserves to be protected then he can be protected. There will be a lot of trades between now and the Xdraft. The Coyotes roster will change and probably for the better. Adding NMCs, especially for defenders, puts a hard limit on future trades.
Also, how old will Gogo be when the 32nd team joins the NHL? A five year NMC could be a real pain once Strome, Dvo et al are eligible.
I know that Jets fans despise Enstrom's NMC even though he's a fine player on a fair salary.
Impressive first at-bat for Chayka. Was expecting a walk and he crushes it over the wall.
Don Maloney had few faults, but his lack of aggressiveness for moves like this was a big one.
This drives home the theory that players want to play in Arizona... it's just a matter of getting them here. Chayka's Arizona Tour must've been well received. So do we take another crack at another UFA's rights? A winger?
I wonder what salary is in each year. It would be good if it was front loaded so when some of the young guys+OEL need to resign there's more money available.
Good deal for a top pairing-level PMD who should be a solid veteran presence behind OEL. Give Chayka all the credit in the world for being aggressive and then being able to close the deal.
Going from Grossmann to someone that can actually play spot duty on a top pairing is going to be a hell of a swing. Bonus points for not needing to shelter him at ES like Yandle.
