Jeez, I'm getting boned. The 3k is on a 2016 VW Jetta. It was like 24k. Assuming I have it for 8 years, I will have paid for it twice (8x3000). Yippie.

check your coverages to make sure you’re not paying for stuff you don’t need.

I'd be curious to know how much liability limit you have on your car insurance. When I drive over to Westgate tomorrow, I'll be covered for $3,000,000 in liability.

Shopped around. My agent is actually a friend so I'm getting a "deal" already. The rates in Ontario (especially GTA) are just insane overall, especially compared to Arizona evidently.

I'm in Germany now. I could have brought one over for you. Shipping and handling would be only one hefeweizen.

Given the kind of beer they serve in Germany, that would be a bargain. Had a Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel in a pub in Essen once that made flying to Germany worthwhile.

(My apologies to any Germans if I spelled that incorrectly.)

down here at least, it can cost more going through a local agent vs direct. agents run their own business and need to make money. the typical way they do that is by charging extra fees and commission. when you talk to an insurance company directly, they can’t do that.

I’m still impressed that McConnell was able to spit out “Arizona lottery power ball power play”

Is that through an umbrella policy? I'm maxed out at $500k body+property, $500k uninsured, $500k underinsured and the only way to get more coverage is an additional umbrella policy. (At least through the company I'm using.)

Edit: I pay $600/year for that car insurance policy.

has to be. standard auto policies in az generally cap at 250/500/100 or 500csl. this can vary from company to company, but not up to 3mil without an umbrella.

No, it's just the menu of options that we chose to insure the car. We prefer $3 million for liability and $500 deductible for windshield replacement. And we pay $880 for the year. It's a CRV registered in Manitoba where the only insurance option is Autopac (provincial government), which costs a fraction of what the private companies charge in next-door Ontario. Ah, the beauty of socialism!

(And I won't even gloat over the two total knee replacements that cost me nothing more than hospital parking.)

And if anybody cares, after a fun loud supper at McFaddyen's, I'm expecting my Jets to win tonight.

So the other guy involved in the accident hired an attorney. I hope this doesn't slow down any process regarding either repair of my car or getting a new one if it is totaled. Over a week now and still have not heard from the insurance company of his. My claims handler mentioned today that his insurance company haven't been able to get a hold of him.

I have been the driver in 3 accidents in my lifetime. In each one my insurance company fixed my vehicle ASAP regardless of who was at fault or if the other driver was insured or not. I thought all insurance companies operated this way.

insurance companies will pay if you’re at fault or if it wasn’t your fault but the other driver has insufficient or no insurance, provided you have the proper coverages. insurance companies (not the police) will work together to establish fault in the accident. whoever is at fault needs to pay.

just a reminder - not at fault accidents can still raise your premium.
