I am driving a golf IV from 2002. So about 17 years old.
Great Car and my First Car.
My Brother got it for 1999€ (the 1€ in Change is still in the Car, for luck).
I Drive IT for about 1 year and i have 172699 km driven.
But No problems, cheap, reliable and a nice big trunk.

And i allways Drive Long Range, from the netherlands Back Home its about 220 km. Not more than 7.3 l on 100 km usage.

I would never buy another Car (even though i would Like to have more Power. 95ps are not that much, but enough.)

PS: i hate the grammar function of my Phone.

I manage an auto repair/tire shop. We only sell Interstate batteries that come with at least the first two years free replacement (except for labor). The Interstate rep told me they do more warranty replacements in Arizona than any other state. The heat here is killer. I've replaced my batter in my '14 Tacoma 3 times. It sits in the sun all day at work so it gets punished. There are definitely cheaper batteries but if you can afford a few extra dollars up front and keep your vehicle more than a year or two, getting a good battery typically saves you money in the long run.

Does the heat have the same effect on the lithium type batteries used in a Tesla?

You won't be paying on two loans, what will likely happen is you'll get a check for your car, you'll take however much out of that check and pay off your first loan. Then you're left with a lump sum of cash, no more car loan and no car, what comes next will be up to you.

not if he’s upside down on the loan. see previous posts.

Sorry I have no knowledge of electric cars. We don't do much on hybrids other than change the oil, steering/suspension work and tires. Electric cars we will just put tires on. We don't touch the batteries. The shop I manage is part of a corporation but we can't even align vehicles with lane departure systems. That will take a technology upgrade. Less and less can be done outside of the dealership with newer vehicles unless the after market companies start spending the money on new equipment.

Well he said he owes around $10k on a 2016 Sonata so unless it's the absolute base model he shouldn't be upside down on it. He should get enough back to pay it off but how much is leftover will greatly depend on his policy and the value his insurance company assigns to his car.

Out of curiosity, how much are you guys paying for insurance? It's my understanding that it's much, much cheaper in 'Merica. And I think I live in the most expensive "zone" in Canada.

I pay ~$3,000/yr (2200 USD). This is on a 2016 car, someone with no accidents, couple of speeding tickets, and have been driving for 10+ years.

2,100/yr USD for both my wife and I combined on auto and home. It also includes her life insurance (I get better coverage through work). I don’t think either of us have any tickets or accidents on our records.

Oh, forgot vehicle type: Wife has 2014 Hyudai Tucson. I've got 2013 Hyundai Elantra.

$550/yr US on a 2019 Hyundai Kona, multi policy discount with Progessive (home). 1 accident, 2 moving violations in 30+ years.

It varies widely within the US, too - you've got two answers from greater Phoenix, but for example here in AZ home insurance is low (no natural disasters), and property tax relatively high...where I'm from in somewhat hurricane-prone central Florida, it's flipped - low property tax, high home insurance.

there are several dozen rating factors. these factors can vary from company to company and state to state. az auto insurance is pretty low compared to other states like fl or nv.

i could say how much i pay for my insurance but it’s not an indication of what someone else would pay. some ratings factors are - credit, age, driving experience, occupation, highest level of education, garaging zip, accidents (even not at fault), damage claims, tickets/violations, the vehicle itself and of course the coverages.

I don't think anyone is trying to write up a policy here, Mos just looking for some ballpark numbers.

and i just pointed out there’s no such thing, because of all the different factors that go into price.

Gender is also a factor in Canada (in Ontario at least), which is bullshit. It's based on some study that men are more aggressive drivers, which is probably true, but that is a very big brush to paint all male drivers with (Yeah I'm probably more to the aggressive side but my no accident record wouldn't reflect that )

yup it is statistically true. and now some states even have “nonbinary” as an option.

I pay less for a 14 BMW Z4 and a 17 Mazda CX-9 combined. No tickets, no accidents.

Socialism, yeah

Jeez, I'm getting boned. The 3k is on a 2016 VW Jetta. It was like 24k. Assuming I have it for 8 years, I will have paid for it twice (8x3000). Yippie.
