The thing is, Bednar has tried to split up 9296 so many times, and in the end it always comes back to 9296. It just works.

he should still split them up to get them going a little and then put them back together later.

remaining status-quo is not the answer. also having watched a few avs games he should have put saad down instead of burkovsky IMO

avs as a team are just looking like a different team before and after that covid break. coaching staff gotta do something different, a different look may be to light some fire under their players' asses.

This is basically the same avs team who could have beaten dallas easily if they didnt have so many injuries.

Nice to see that Rantanen is getting more and more into the old form before his injury.

Avs are a solid team. Bednar needs to split Mack and Rantanen to spread out offense a little and get their big boys going by giving them responsibilities.

Once things start clicking and then you as a coach have confidence to change a few things. Bednar remaining staus-quo with basically the same team he had last season that was making noise and team not clicking isn't on the team but on coaching staff
Splitting Rantanen from the top line doesn't do any favor if MacKinnon doesn't get his game going. It's probably what Toronto will have to do to Matthews and Marner going into the playoffs.

The only thing overrated with the Avs is their ability to dodge injuries and stay healthy.

They rival the Pens when it comes to injury "luck"over the last few years and are way younger...
Really unfortunate considering this is our best chance to win a cup before we have to pay Mac and the cap makes things difficult...

It’s been a choppy season. They are a good team, potentially great when healthy. But injuries are part and parcel of hockey...their season has been a mild disappointment overall thus far but the level of overrated or not is really purely going to be based on playoff performance. They are no less capable of going on a big run than they were prior to the season but they have not had the consistency or even spikes of super impressive weeks as a team that the likes of Tampa, Carolina or Toronto have had. It’s been...uneven and not clicking on all cylinders for extended stretches of games.

yes but this is a consistent issue: they fold and crumble under any pressure. seriously, how often does an avalanche player get hurt because of a single hit or punch?

I mean, most injuries are because of a single incident, no?

That aside, unless you think there's something wrong with the medical team for the Avs, it's just bad luck - though at this point I wouldn't complain about changing that up just to be sure, that's how bad it is.

Its just weird they just get banged up over something simple. Also i've always seen that they have poor conditioning, especially when it came to the start of the bubble and this season. The trainers in colorado gotta be fixed

Should have traded for Pageau when they had the chance he was the perfect fit.
Him or Coleman and this teams bottom 6 goes from solid to really really good. We missed the boat on two guys who we needed unfortunately.

It would help to have half of our top players back and not be playing a fringe AHL goalie.

They just lost to the Ducks and make Anaheim look like contenders. Along with the Wild. What has to be done to fix this team?

Probably bears mentioning they are missing MacKinnon, Makar, Johnson, and Byram...along with Francouz, which meant that on the back to back tonight they had to play Hunter Miska in net, and he is an unmitigated disaster...

Most teams missing their best forward, their best defenseman, two additional top four defenseman, and playing their #3 goaltender look like crap, eh?

But based on the username you probably had this thread up and ready to go for a while, so the strange timing makes sense.
