Back to the 4th overall pick ! If only they had lost vs Vancouver they'd be at 2nd overall pick right now.

Look at Carolina they just barely have a top 15 pick, their not good enough to contend but not bad enough for a chance at #1 pick. Thats been the story of them for 9 years since their last playoff birth(longest drought in the NHL while the Panthers another southern team hasn't won a playoff series in over 20 years but at least the Panthers have a bright future, they even tanked for Ekblad in 2014 & have found a few gems like Trocheck outside the 1st round & now they look poised to sign Panera & Bobrovsky).

Yep. They may not have tanked as hard as the Oilers or Sabres but they’ve had high draft picks and still don’t have a playoff caliber team.

Sad part is BM thought MDZ would be an improvement over the Dmen the Ducks already had. That’s one of the reasons I have no faith in him to turn this around.

The young guys are all drafted by the scouting team. BM, IMO, struggles a bit at evaluating actual NHL players.

There are pro scouts as well.

Carolina or Florida ? Carolina to my knowledge has never had a 1st overall pick but the Whalers might have. Highest they've had as Carolina is #2 Staal, #2 Svechnikov, #3 Jack Johnson, #4 Ladd, #5 E-Lindholm, #5 Hanifin, #7 Skinner & #7 Fleury(Bust, 79 games no goals 9 assists).
Of their 2010 decade top 10 picks: Skinner, Hanifin & Lindholm already traded, Fleury is a bust. All that remains of their top 10 picks if Svech. Their combination of GM, Owner & Scouts are awful.

We need to trade silf fowler and henrique. Add thoses 1sts and prospects and go hard on duechene or panarin.

Hopefully kesler retires or goes on ltir.

Imagine adding duechene/panarin + hughes in off season, with terry/comtois/steel around corner and healthy kase.
