Johnsson is a top 3 player?

What did you mean by that? Obviously that's not what you meant.
He's our best LEFT wing.

Every shift needs a LEFT wing. He's our best Left wing. Thus he's a Top 3 player.

He’s the best player on this team over the last couple weeks

He’s so passionate and racking up points playing with utter garbage players... lindholm and gauthier

Love this kid. Lock him up long term

AJ is not afraid to go to the dirty areas. The fact that he now has 1 more goal than Kadri playing 4-5 fewer minutes per game and limited PP minutes shows me how disappointing Kadri's year has been.
I would not hesitate to trade him for a top 4 RHD like Pesce while his value is high.

Build down the middle and on D/goalie.
3 lighter skilled wingers in Marner/Nylander/Kapanen.
We need a heavier skilled winger and fill in the rest with low dollar Hyman/Moore players.

Agreed.

He's lighting it up in his current role, so apparently the wise thing to do is change his role. :sarcasm:
Yes, promoting players when they thrive in lesser roles is pretty standard. The idea is to have your best players play as much as possible

NHL player factory
Because Johnsson is a much better player at this point.

Marleau looks a step behind where he was last season
Yet Johnnson is scoring playing on the 4th line making us harder to play against. Why would we want to change that. It Marleau has looked fine since the break can not say the same for Mathews at all.

Wouldn't doubt for one second if this kid is pissed about still being on the 4th line.

What does it feel like to outplay every LW in the organization only to remain on the 4th line when you're in a contract year trying to maximize your earnings??

And people wonder why we're getting bent over by our RFA's.

it's not like he looked bad when he actually got an opportunity to move up either. he looked better than Hyman on the Tavares line. this is quite honestly one of Babcock's more questionable decisions

Can our media atleast f***ing ask Babcock about these things? Or are they only in the business of hypothetical offer-sheets towards our players?

Forget LW's, this kids outperforming most forwards on our team.

Gotta keep that production down for that contract, right?!

He talks about everything buddy, you just don't listen to his interviews, I believe it was after Johnson 4 point game that Babcock said something like Johnsson is pushing his way into the top 6 or 9.

No, our top 3 players are 3 of Matthews, Tavares, Marner and Rielly.

Who are you trying to fool here?
Top 3 Top 6 Bottom six are which lines you play on.

Players have positions.

We are very weak (unbalanced) on LW and RD.

This is nonsense.
hopefully. But give it some time because this happens whenever a random 3rd/4th liner gets a few goals thanks to pucks bouncing their way. The fans start predicting stardom and the naysayers get called fools and then reality slowly sets in. Johnsson's has like 15 goals and I can't remember a single one that was impressive. Just normal nhl wristers and a handful of pucks bouncing his way. Maybe the game he had a hat-trick where he sent a couple shots along the ice 5 hole was a sign of something but odds are we would have seen more signs of it by now. All I've seen is a guy with no real standout skills. He doesn't' carry the puck particularly well doesn't pass well at all and has poor decision making which is the reason the Leafs coaching staff are uncomfortable putting him beside their star players who think the game on a higher level. He might still moe up but that's more testament to how weak the Leafs are at left wing. (and off topic but it's same thing with kapanen only worse. He is a fine player with obvious stand-out skills but he is downright scatterbrained on the ice. Winging pucks around the boards thoughtlessly or making several phantom passes this season already to leafs who aren't actually there. And that game he got a few 2 on 1s right in row was pretty telling. But unlike Johnsson he is an elite puck carrier who can create space to stop and make a normal nhl pass to trailers or whoever. Which this forum will likely take to be superior hokey sense and passing ability. Meanwhile any star players on his line don't really know what he's thinking and find it tough playing with him just like Matthews did)
