Didn't even realize he was considered a rookie
If he keeps up his play I wonder if he could be a darkhorse candidate for the Calder.
Maybe...
If he played in the Eastern Conference.

Anyone catch what Woodley said about the Isles 'not really believing in goalie coaches, rather just let them figure it out?'
Eeesh.

I don't want to say he doesn't know what he's talking about, but Mike Dunham has been their goalie coach since 2008. Dunham was mentored by Mitch Korn(probably the best goalie coach in the league right now), so you have to think he's at least decent at the job too.
Maybe I'm missing something.
haven't followed the thread much so forgive me it my comment has already bee noted.
I think Nilssons story will have a positive effect on the Oilers going after other players overseas.
He's signed with Edmonton on the promise he'd get a fair shot at a job and playing time in the NHL. The Oilers kept that promise. they didn't give scrivens the job out of loyalty or make Talbot he starter because of the cost of the trade.
Players will know they can get a fair chance if promised one.
We've kinda been doing this for awhile. Granted none have really been that successful, but guys like Joensuu, Belov, Grebeshkov, Petrell, Pakarininen etc. have been given shots to make this club.
I do however wish we had a way to give Horak and Larsen a bit more of a look, but they choose to go to europe.
good point. you're right this is just more noticeable because it's worked out so far.
I also wish Horak would have stuck around
Has anyone noticed that he weighs 230 pounds? He's a beast of a man for a goalie. Same height as Dubnyk, but Dubnyk is a stick man in comparison.
I've noticed he stares down opposition a lot. haha.
Not averse to getting into scrums around the net either.

Lets get this back on track.
Any goalie he stylistically he compares to?
I think he's very similar to Dubnyk in a lot of ways. Let's just hope he doesn't have the same fate...
