It's not the best asset management. Yeah, you got a good player, but you had to give up a first rounder to get him, and you're going to have to give him a ginormous contract to keep him. And you kinda don't have any choice but to give him that ginormous contract in order to justify using a first round pick on him; you don't want him to walk in free agency considering what you had to invest to acquire him in the first place.
Of course if he keeps on putting up 10/200/3 statlines, then it's totally worth it. But it's more likely he's something like a 70/1200/8 guy over the course of a season long-term and you're probably paying him $15 million-plus for that.
he's definitely a good player though; I just get that Brandin Cooks vibe from him where he feels like more of a low-end #1 WR than a premium one.
