I wonder if Jeff Vinik is optimistic about getting out of paying a fine.

Also league has taken off table some of the systemic changes to player contracts which they asked for in initial July offer
That's possible.
Maybe my math is fuzzy but if HRR is split 50/50 in year 1, how are salaries "preserved"? Wouldn't adjustments to paychecks be made through escrow since most teams would be over the new cap? I suspect "preservation of salary" just means no rollbacks.
What does "preserved salaries" mean?
A roll back on cap hits?
Wow. This is a solid deal so far

Just told from NHL source that the NHL's new offer is based on current HRR definition, which is significant.

Need to see provision for year 1 salary protection. Initial player response: 1% increase. Still a 12-13% reduction in yr 1 (7/57= 12.2%).
This from the PA? If so are they talking about 1st year being 51%, then after that it dropping to 50-50%, or every year being 51%?
No, I think they are comparing it to the September 12th NHL offer, which was a 49% share for players in year 1.
