This is what I like seeing...concrete names. Apparently Edmonton is also interested in Kreuger for either HC or a front office role.
That would definitely be an interesting coach choice. He has been a pretty darn good coach practically everywhere he has coached. He could maybe also get better the talent out of the many European talents that the Jets have.

But does he want to coach anymore? Or would he rather be a GM after all? Well, I wouldn’t maybe mind him replacing Chevy either. Probably the best way to get rid of Maurice as well...

Maurice coached under him in that world cup thing or whatever it was. Couldn't stop raving about Kreuger. Like an inveterage brown-noser.

It looks like we have to throw another season in garbage with Maurice here before they decide to fire him.

Sadly we are stuck with him.

Oops. I did forget about that. That could maybe mean that him replacing Chevy wouldn’t after all fix the coaching problem

I would be ecstatic to have Jacques Martin, or perhaps one of the up and comers, Richardson, Shaw or former Jet Brad Berry. Even Yeo...Who I think is much better than he gets credit for.

I agree. I don't look forward to making the playoffs again.
I mean, if the Jets play like they did in 2019 for a full season and lose their third best defenceman with no adequate replacement, do you even see the playoffs as a sure thing?

I am going to be on the optimistic side and think this season was a kick in the teeth for the organization and we see renewed hunger and buy in from the team next year. I don't expect a 2018 level dominant season but I don't expect the real uneven stuff we saw this year either. I say we finish with similar points as this year but the underlying metrics will be significantly better and the board will be more satisfied with the product.

Willing to give Maurice the shot on this but definitely really interest in Ralph Krueger. I know the Oil didn't make the playoffs in his year but I thought for the most part they actually really improved. If not him and if Mo sucks again next year, I hope they go with a younger, fresher coach.

I have a hard time getting a read on Kruger. He hasn't coached in years now and only has a shortened season of experience. I think I would rather have him in the front office.

Definitely fair. Maybe he could help change the culture. Isn't he from or raised in Winnipeg?

Yeah he is from WPG originally. I am not sure he needs to change the culture but if he can help bring in some more progressive and non traditional hockey thinking then I think he will have a big impact on some of the development, evaluating and scouting processes.

I am not convinced about Krueger as a coach. Granted he only coached for a limited about of time but Oilers stats weren't good even by Oilers standards under him:

He might have been a good coach had he been allowed to continue but if I were a betting man I would not can Maurice just to sign Krueger. If Mo is canned you need to have a clear and proven upgrade over him otherwise you might end up with someone who is actually worse.

At this point I would be very surprised to see Maurice replaced this off season. Really a 0% chance.

As for Krueger, I really like him as Chevy’s boss as I had discussed at length many years ago.

The Jets really need another set of eyes in equation.

As for Krueger as a coach. He certainly did an excellent job when he was the Swiss men’s National team coach.

Sean Burke was on a decent trajectory at one point too. Could be a decent addition to the organization.

If the coach isn’t being changed it would be nice to add a new set of eyes to the hockey ops department.

Wonder if Laviolette would be available with Nashville out in the first round as well.

Don't think it will matter anyways, Maurice will start the season and Laviolette would be picked up before the Jets (if they even fire him) anyways.

I take it Nashville lost tonight, by reading your post. I think Laviolette will end up in Edmonton, if the Preds fire him. I was on the Oilers forum, and a lot of their posters like Laviolette and Maurice.

I'm also of the opinion that Krueger would make much more sense in a management position rather than coach. Don't think that will ever happen though as Chevy is not going anywhere. The only scenario I can think of that could work is the Jets creating a new upper management title of President. Promoting Chevy to that role and having Krueger work under him as GM

Let's see now- just about all the "heavyweights" are out

1) Tampa -out in 4 straight

2) Pittsburgh - out in about 4 straight

3) Nashville - out in 6 games

4) Washington--going to 7 games- could be out (1 more loss)

5) Calgary Flames -- knocked out in 5 or so games

6) Jets --out in 6 games

Considering this list , it's got to tell you there's a lot of parody in this league -- so you can't blame this all on Maurice. The Jet's have done pretty damn good over the last 2 years.

If the Caps are knocked out--"all the favorites" are gone !!! It's really quite incredible when you think about it.

Didn't islanders finish better than Pens in standings?

Isles were the 2 to the Pens 3, but most predicted Pittsburgh to win that. You've also left out Calgary on your list.

Who would've guessed the final four in the West would be St. Louis, Dallas, Colorado, and Vegas/San Jose? Weird year.

Your right about that, and I had just thought of that myself -- thanks for that, and I'll add Calgary to the list.

As for Pittsburgh, they may have finished a little behind the Islanders--but Pittsburgh were favorites over them by Sportsbooks.

Incredible year, and if the Jets could have beat St.Louis, their path may have been not so bad. You have to like the Blue's chances, especially if the Caps are knocked off.

I just had a chance to listen to Chevy's interview.

Maurice isn't going anywhere.
He will be doing some "surgery" this summer.
In his words, "this year, there certainly will be changes."

Trouba isn't coming back but we knew that last summer.
