I believe Skinner is toWhat I don't understand about getting Panarin is that he's a left winger, no? We have Marchand, Donato, Debrusk on the left side. Heinen also shoots left.
Sorry Bill by “next year” I had in mind 2019-2020. In other words, we now have 4 LD for this coming year with the 5 year deal for Moore. Not sure why we needed to make that signing unless they planned to ship one of Gryz/Krug our or they felt like none of those kids would be ready the following season. And to me, 1-2 of those kids ought to be ready 3-5 years after being drafted right? Is that really unfair?I can't speak for others, but I didn't expect any of those guys to make the team next year. Not sure why that's sad, they weren't top5 picks, and the Bruins had two teenagers in their top4 last year.
Different players develop differently. Johnny Boychuk didn't pop until his late 20's. I don't think that will be the case with those three but I consider "normal" development for players to be 1 full year in the AHL to get your feet wet, a second year in the AHL to dominate and some call-ups/time in the NHL. It's not until that third year of pro hockey that I start to have "expectations" on guys cracking the roster and contributing. You get guys who pop early but that was Marchand's path and he's doing okay. Krejci too. I think the path can be a little different for college players who turn pro when they're older/more physically developed, but to me, that's your "typical" development path from juniors. All three of those defensemen are just entering their second year as pro's so for them to be "on schedule" I would like to see them have dominant seasons this year in Providence, and get a few calls up to Boston.
He's a RH shot, but does play on the left side. Yeah, Panarin is the type of guy you just let play in the spot he's most comfortable in. He's one of the rare wingers that can drive a line by himself, so maybe put him on the "3rd line" with Donato and someone else if you don't want to break Krejci/DeBrusk up (assuming they wouldn't be part of the deal). What I don't understand about getting Panarin is that he's a left winger, no? He might be able to play both LW and RW as he is right handed. What I don't understand about getting Panarin is that he's a left winger, no? We have Marchand, Donato, Debrusk on the left side. Heinen also shoots left.
I'm confused as to why there isn't a lot of talk about Mark Stone. One of the better, more complete wingers in the league without a contract at the moment (RFA), and that team is in absolute turmoil.

I'm sure there are lots of them, but my point is we're not there yet. I would not characterize their development as delayed after 1 year of pro hockey. For every Johnny Boychuk, how many defensemen never make a contribution in the NHL and their delayed development schedule is more of a reflection of their ability than anything else.
Boychuk is such a rarity he's probably counter productive to use as an example.
and that's why offer sheets don't work....I would definitely throw an offer sheet over there. Big frontloaded money as well to dissuade Ottawa from matching. Getting him via trade will probably be difficult since Ottawa has explicitly stated that they won't trade within division.

The Lucic rumor coming back to Boston was posted on Facebook by Haggerty. I did not click on the link so maybe it was fake news idk.
What about Seguin? He could play RW if that’s what we need, or center if/when Krejci is traded. I can’t see him staying in Dallas after his contract is up next summer. It’s crazy and won’t happen but he’d be way better then Skinner.
Chiarelli would. He also traded Hall for Larson. It’s a completely different regime now with Sweeney and Cassidy.the Seguin/Lucic ship has sailed, folks.... you wouldn't have dealt them if there weren't issues there, remember who has to be convinced to bring either back, and if Neely hasn't changed his mind on either player and why those decisions were ultimately made.
There's been different hear-say of Looch wanting out of Edmonton. What PC has vehemently denied but given the chance of getting out from under that contract he would do it in a heartbeat. So Im sure he's listening, to anything or anyone who's remotely interested but if I'm Boston Id pass, unless Puljujarvi a first and Nurse are coming with and their taking Backes contract back.
Yeah who knew he’d improve so much at his natural position if given the chance?Seguin would be great but I'd be surprised if he doesn't re-sign with Dallas even before the season is under-way. Seguin has become one of the best two-way centers in the league. He's really has committed to playing both ends of the ice and has gotten way better in the face-off circle.
